Abstract: The present invention relates to a supported copper catalyst comprising Cu, Zn, Al, Zr, Si, and O, wherein the catalyst comprises elemental copper, and wherein the catalyst displays a Zn:Si atomic ratio in the range of from 5:1 to 27:1, as well as to a precursor of the catalyst.
