    Abstract: A method performed by a first electronic device that is communicatively coupled to a wireless headset, the method includes, while engaged in a call with a second electronic device, communicating with the wireless headset via a bi-directional wireless audio connection; determining that a joint media playback session has been initiated in which the first and second electronic devices are to independently stream media content for separate playback by both of the first and second electronic devices while engaging in the call; and switching to communicate with the wireless headset via a uni-directional wireless audio connection based on a determination of one or more capabilities of the wireless headset, wherein a mix of 1) one or more signals associated with the call and 2) an audio signal of the media content is transmitted to the wireless headset over the uni-directional wireless audio connection.

    Abstract: A thermal control module computes an estimate of a temperature of a speaker, based on an audio signal that is driving the speaker, and computes a gain that is applied to attenuate the audio signal to prevent overheating of the speaker. Thermal control module computes an adapted impedance, being an estimate of the speaker's impedance including its DC resistance, and uses it to compute the temperature estimate. The adapted impedance is obtained from a normal adaptation process when a measured voltage of the speaker is above a threshold, and a decay process when the measured voltage is below the threshold.     Abstract: Various techniques relating to the buffering of a live audio broadcast on an electronic device and the subsequently playback the buffered data are provided. In one embodiment, the playback speed of the buffered data may be increased relative to the actual speed at which the data was originally broadcasted. If the buffered playback (using the increased playback speed) synchronizes or catches up to the live broadcast, the electronic device may disable buffering and output the live stream instead. This decreases processing demands by lowering processing cycles required for buffering (encoding, etc.) and playback of the buffered data (decoding, etc.), thereby reducing power consumption.

    Abstract: An equalizer that linearly interpolates between two equalization states when transitioning from one equalization state to the other equalization state is described.
