摘要: Devices, system, and methods are provided based on a technique for purging a blood pump. The technique may include providing a blood pump having an impeller and providing a fluid comprising a bicarbonate. The technique may include flowing the fluid through a first gap between a bearing and an outer surface of a rotatable shaft coupled to the impeller, the bearing and gap being disposed within a lumen of a tubular member and depending on the flow rate of the fluid and the speed of the impeller, the fluid may flow through the first gap and into a second gap between the bearing and a surface of the impeller facing the bearing. The bicarbonate reduces denaturation and adsorption of any blood proteins in the gap(s).

摘要: Systems and methods are provided herein for treating a patient in cardiogenic shock. An intravascular heart pump system is inserted into vasculature of the patient. The heart pump system has a cannula, pump outlet, pump inlet, and rotor. The heart pump system is positioned within the patient such that the cannula extends across the patient's aortic valve, the pump inlet is located within the patient's left ventricle, and the pump outlet is located within the patient's aorta. Data related to time-varying parameters of the heart pump system is acquired from the heart pump system. A plurality of features are extracted from the data. A probability of survival of the patient is determined based on the plurality of features and using a prediction model. The heart pump system is operated to treat the patient.

摘要: A prosthetic apparatus is disclosed including: a tubular stent disposed about a longitudinal axis and extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the stent defining a tubular passage between the ends. The tubular stent has a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a middle portion located between the proximal and distal portions. The proximal and distal portions each comprise a mesh of support struts forming at least one ring of open elements disposed about the longitudinal axis. The middle portion features open regions which reduce or eliminate blockage of sensitive anatomical features at an implantation site.

摘要: Techniques for delaying initiation of coagulation and suppressing fibrin formation may be provided. The disclosed techniques may include providing a percutaneous blood pump that may include a metal or ceramic surface (such as a surface of a shaft, bearing, rotor, stator, etc.) that has been modified with a bifunctional modifier. The modified surface may be within a motor section and/or pump section of the blood pump. The modified surface may be configured to interact with blood. When blood is allowed to interact with the modified surface, a desirable microenvironment may be formed. The bifunctional modifier may be a functionalized aminosilane, a functionalized aminosiloxane, and/or a functionalized silanetriol. The blood pump may be configured to have a purge fluid pass through at least a portion of the motor section and/or the pump section. The purge fluid may be free of anticoagulants.
