The compressor further includes a plurality of balls. During operation, a first portion of each of the balls is positioned within a corresponding one of the accommodation portions, and a second portion of each of the balls is positioned within a corresponding one of the hollows, such that a rotational motion of the second rotation member is transmitted to the first rotation member via the balls. The compressor also includes a ring plate adapted to apply a predetermined amount of force to the balls. The predetermined amount of force is sufficient to maintain the balls within their corresponding accommodation portion. Moreover, the second rotation member includes one or more stopper portions which prevent the balls from moving in an axial direction within their corresponding hollow.

A scroll type fluid displacement apparatus, in particular, a scroll type compressor, is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pair of scroll members at an angular and radial offset for forming fluid pockets, each scroll member having a spiral element. A bypass hole is provided on a wall of at least one of the spiral elements of the scroll members for communicating between the fluid pockets and a suction chamber. A valve mechanism, which operates in a radial direction, controls the opening and closing of the bypass hole. The valve mechanism is responsive to the rotational motion of the scroll members and/or the pressure in at least one of the fluid pockets. When the apparatus is driven at excessive speed, the valve mechanism operates in response to centrifugal force to open the bypass hole. The compressed fluid in the fluid pockets then is released into the suction chamber through the opened bypass hole, and the compression capacity is reduced to a proper value. Additionally, when the pressure in the fluid pockets becomes excessive, the valve mechanism operates to open the bypass hole to thereby decrease the pressure a proper value.

A scroll type compressor includes a housing having an inner chamber and fluid inlet and outlet ports connected to the inner chamber. A fixed scroll is mounted within the housing and has a circular end plate from which a first spiral element extends. An orbiting scroll is also mounted within the housing for orbital motion with respect to the fixed scroll, and includes a circular end plate from which a second spiral element extends. The fixed scroll and the orbiting scroll are maintained angularly and radially offset from each other so that the spiral elements interfit to form a plurality of line contacts between their spiral curved surfaces which seal-off and define at least one pair of fluid pockets. The orbital movement of the orbiting scroll relative to the fixed scroll shifts the line contacts along the spiral curved surfaces of the spiral elements which changes the volume of the fluid pockets. The end plate of the fixed scroll partitions the inner chamber of the housing into a suction chamber and a discharge chamber. A sealing structure is disposed between the inner peripheral wall of the housing and the outer peripheral surface of the end plate of the fixed scroll. The sealing structure includes an annular cut-out portion, having an L-shaped sectional side view, formed in the outer peripheral surface of the end plate of the fixed scroll, an annular ridge formed in the inner peripheral wall of the housing and an O-ring seal element disposed between the annular cut-out portion and the annular ridge.

The vehicular refrigerating cycle comprises a falling-off preventing means for stopping a movement of the displacement control valve in a direction in which the displacement control valve comes out of its mounting position on the compressor, disposed at a portion which is positioned in the direction for the displacement control valve to come out of its mounting position on the compressor and positioned on this side of a position for the displacement control valve to completely fall off from the compressor. The displacement control valve can be prevented from exerting unpreferred influences upon the environment, even if the displacement control valve being mounted on the compressor should become so unfixed for some reason as could pop out of the compressor.
