Abstract:
Before a party is admitted into a conference call, the party's communication connection to the conference bridge is tested for quality. If the quality is acceptable, the party is admitted into the conference. If the quality is not acceptable, an attempt is made to improve the quality. If the attempt fails, the party is given the choice of either hanging up and calling back or being admitted into the conference in a restricted mode that limits the adverse effects of the poor connection on the conference.
Abstract:
A workflow management system provides a GUI configuration tool that allows end users to configure the states and state properties of workflows and workers without rewriting the program. The application also provides an interface that allows the use of extensible code to perform custom functions at particular states and at particular state transitions of a workflow.

Abstract:
A workflow management system provides a GUI Configurability tool that allows an end user to configure the system's workflow screens, workflow logic and data fields without the need to rewrite any programs. The system allows each workflow screen to represent and assist each individual task within a business process that may be defined and illustrated by a flowchart. The workflow screens work in conjunction with workflow logic to create an accurate one-to-one mapping of the individual tasks and decision logic within a business process flowchart. The system provides published interfaces that allow the use of third party hardware and software within workflows. The system also provides published interfaces to integrate extensible code that perform custom functions within the system.
Abstract:
The satellite communication system uses defocused feed arrays to generate a large number of beams that cover a number of regions. The ground gateways are assigned the same frequency spectrum. The beams are divided into multiple groups and each group is controlled by a different ground gateway. The signals within each group are coherent. Each gateway can then control the set of beams landing on its neighboring territory.
Abstract:
A plurality of bit stream formatters formats and codes the digital information signals that are to be transmitted. A symbol generator generates I and Q symbols from the formatted information signals. These symbols are input to the beamforming matrix that is connected directly to the symbol generators. The beamforming matrix generates baseband beam signals from the I and Q symbols. Baseband, pulse-shaping, low-pass filters are connected to the beamforming matrix. The low-pass filters each generate an antenna feed signal from each of the baseband beam signals.
Abstract:
Communicating in a network over a path that includes a first node includes: receiving from the first node, at a second node on the path, a packet addressed to a destination; forwarding the packet from the second node to the destination; determining, at the second node, a first time associated with forwarding the packet to the destination; receiving, at the second node, an acknowledgement of the packet from the destination; determining, at the second node, a second time associated with receiving the acknowledgement at the second node; and forwarding the acknowledgment from the second node to the first node. The acknowledgment includes timing information based on the first time and second time.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses 27 immunoreactive peptides and antibodies immunologically reactive with said peptides. Such peptides and antibodies can be used for diagnosis of SARS-CoV infection as well as for preparing vaccination against SARS-CoV or a closely related coronaviruses.
Abstract:
A data structure and associated data management methods for highly flexible storage of data for a wide variety of application programs. Data is stored as a plurality of Blops, each of which has a list of Properties associated with it. Each Property contains zero or more elements. Elements are Values, each of which has a Basic Type and consists of a variable length sequence of bytes. The Basic Type defines the format of the Value, as well as meta-information such as compression and encryption. Elements can also be Compound Types, which nestably refer to another list of Properties. Blops are stored in Containers, which map to the physical medium on which the data is stored. Containers associate respective Container Handlers which are specific to the Container's physical medium. Related Blops in a Container are organized into Pools of Blops. Each Container contains one or more Pools, each Pool having a unique name within the Container. A Pool contains multiple versions of a Blop. Versions of different Blops are grouped together in Layers in a Pool and each Layer contains at most one version of a Blop. Layers are related to each other as an acyclic digraph, where each Layer is above one or more Base Layers and has zero or more Layers above it. Each Layer presents a "view" to a user of the Blops in a pool, and thereby provides a mechanism to manipulate which versions of which Blops are to be used at any given time.
Abstract:
Communicating between a first node in a network and a second node includes determining, by a third node in the network that is in communication with the first node, a value of an additive path quality metric for a path segment between the third node and a fourth node, and a value of the additive path quality metric for a path segment between the third node and a fifth node. Path quality is estimated for each of multiple different paths between the first node and the second node based at least in part on the values of the additive path quality metric determined by the third node. At least two of the multiple different paths include at least one path segment in common.
