摘要： An exhaust fan draws air and entrained tobacco through delivery pipes from a tobacco feeder to the respective dischargers of a group of cigarette making machines, where the tobacco is screened out and the air passes on through exhaust pipes. When a discharger is to release tobacco to its making machine the feeder stops delivery of tobacco to that discharger and, after a delay to clear the delivery pipe, a valve bypasses the air around the discharger so that a constant air flow is maintained. The feeder supplies tobacco in a separate and independently controlled stream to each discharger, and has oscillating vanes to separate and keep the tobacco moving.

摘要： A vibrating discharge apparatus for discharging particulate stored material from a surge or blending bin or the like, having a discharge end, a discharge apron defining an support surface near the bottom of the bin extending in a substantially horizontal plane along a conveyance path to the discharge end. The apron is directed along a downwardly curving convex apron path sloping downwardly from the horizontal plane at the discharge end and comprises a plurality of rigid elongated parallel transversely extending slat members each having a main slat body portion and a thin plate-like lip projecting therefrom to overlie the adjacent slat member. A driven chain at opposite lateral ends of the slats are trained about sprockets for moving the slat members and an eccentric rotatable impact mechanism engages an under-side portion of successive slat members as they reach the beginning of the curving apron path to transfer vibratory movement thereto and has multiple adjustments to vary properties of the vibratory action.

摘要： An automated apparatus and method for removing the bead wires from discarded tires prior to further processing of the rubber of the tire casing employs an intermittently movable infeed conveyor that brings each tire to a position where it drops into a chute leading to a debeading chamber. In a particular embodiment, the tire comes to rest on pivoted gates in the chute, which open to drop a tire into the debeading chamber. In the debeading chamber, the tire rests upright on a spring-loaded platform that forms the floor of the debeading chamber. Side plates with cruciform die openings form sidewalls of the debeading chamber that confront the sidewalls of the tire. The tire is positioned so that the openings in the tire sidewalls are generally aligned with the die openings. Hooks of movable bead pullers extend through the vertical slots of the die openings and through the central openings of the tire sidewalls to positions where their downwardly open hooked ends overlap between the tire sidewalls. The platform then moves up, raising the tire so that the tire beads press against the hooks. The hooks then retract through the die openings; during this movement, the hooks grip the bead wires and pull the tire beads away from each other toward the die openings. As the retracting movement of the hooks continues, the bead wires, gripped by the hooks, are pulled through the horizontal slots of the die openings. The rubber encasing the bead wires cannot fit through the horizontal slots of the die openings and is stripped from the bead wires. As the hooks begin retracting, the platform moves downwardly to accommodate the distortion of the tire. The travel of the hooks is sufficient to pull an entire loop of bead wires through the die openings to a position outboard of the debeading chamber, where the bead wires drop from the hooks. When the retracting movement of the hooks is complete, a discharge member forming a rear wall of the debeading chamber moves forwardly, ejecting the tire casing from the debeading chamber and into to a chute leading to a collection area. Cutters carried on the side edges of the discharge member slide over the side plates and will shear off any stray bead wires extending into the debeading chamber through the die openings.

摘要： A pneumatic separator for separating lighter particles from heavier stem particles and the like, as in tobacco threshing, including a separating chamber having air circulating in a generally upward path therethrough, an inlet rotary impeller mounted on one side of the separating chamber for thrusting particles to be separated into and across the chamber toward a generally upwardly extending opposite wall of the chamber, an inclined perforated plate member below the level of the impeller for directing larger particles discharged toward or falling onto the inclined plate member for collecting and carrying heavier particles from the chamber, and an air jet impeller located immediately above the inclined plate to discharge an air jet therefrom for directing material into a high arc trajectory into the chamber. An air diffusion granting assembly below the inclined perforated plate member receives air discharged from a fan and has a plurality of directional vanes for reducing air flow and velocity in selected portions of the separating chamber. Air discharge openings are located at a vertical position above the level of the impeller to provide air flow therethrough into the chamber in zones located above the height of such openings.
