    摘要: A medium caliber round of ammunition capable of being fired at variable velocities and trajectories, and methods of firing such, are presented herein. The ammunition round includes a grenade and a cartridge received in a firing chamber. The cartridge has a front case for receiving the grenade, and a rear case for receiving a primer. An adjustable variator collar is disposed between the front and rear cases. The variator collar is adjustable between a first position that chokes the venting of gas from a high-side stage to a low-side stage for low muzzle velocity, and a second position for un-choking the venting of gas from the high-side stage to the low-side stage for a rapid rise in pressure during the low-side stage, resulting in a high muzzle velocity. The collar may further be adjusted in any position between the first and second for relative amounts of controlled fluid flow.

    摘要: A polymeric cartridge subassembly for use in medium caliber weaponry, comprising a metallic base having a rearward surface, an open forward surface, and a coupling element therebetween. A polymeric casing is mated with the base coupling element via a coupling end, and includes a forward end opening, an opposite end, and a middle body portion therebetween. The forward end opening is adapted to receive a projectile, and the coupling end has an outer diameter less than that of the middle body portion to facilitate mating with the base coupling element. The polymeric casing is formed from a graphene-reinforced polymer matrix composite which is light-weight; producing necessary ballistics for medium caliber ammunition without deformation of the polymeric casing after firing.

The hand guard surrounds a portion of the barrel and comprises a guard casing and fastening features coupled to the guard casing. Peripheral device mounting rails are coupled to the fastening features and located in a generally “Y” shape pattern. The generally “Y” shape pattern has a first peripheral device mounting rail located on a lower portion of the guard casing and second and third peripheral device mounting rails located on opposing sides of an upper portion of the guard casing. The peripheral device mounting rails are placed where peripheral devices mounted on the peripheral device mounting rails do not interfere with the line of sight.

    摘要: A piston/rocket projectile for use within a launcher system having a barrel and method of firing such are presented herein. The projectile comprises a projectile body having a combustion chamber for propellant, a piston moveable to extend out a base of the projectile as a result of ignition of propellant in the combustion chamber, and vents for expulsion of combustion products from the ignition of propellant out of the projectile base after initial movement of the piston. A casing is secured to the base of the projectile body, enclosing the piston and vents prior to the ignition of propellant, and a separable joint is disposed between the casing and the base of the projectile body. Upon ignition of propellant in the combustion chamber, the projectile piston is forced down and the separable joint is caused to separate, leaving the casing in the barrel. After the piston completes exertion of propulsion force, combustion products of the ignition of propellant are expelled through the vents out of a lower end of the projectile and solid combustion byproducts from the ignition of the propellant are collected in the casing.

    摘要: A safety and bolt assembly system for firearms, particularly for a shotgun. A firing pin is slideable within an opening in the gun's bolt to strike a shell in the gun. The firing pin being movable between a first position in which it is aligned with the opening and capable of sliding movement to strike the shell and a second position in which it is out of alignment with the opening and incapable of sliding movement to strike the shell. The gun safety system includes a spring for urging the firing pin away from the shell and an angled slot for moving and retaining the firing pin away from the shell when the bolt is in the second position. A link is adapted to connect the bolt/slide to a bolt operating system, a pin is secured to one of the bolt/slide or link, and a slot is present in the other of the bolt/slide or link to receive the pin. The slot is angled rearward to prevent movement of the pin from the slot during movement of the bolt/slide in the direction of the link. A leaf spring support member is movable to permit the pin to be removed from the slot while secured to the one of the bolt/slide or link and to permit the bolt/slide to be completely removed from the receiver without removing the operating system from the gun.

The first mount is adapted to be mounted to the firearm and has rail attachment sections thereon. The adapter rail is adapted to be removably mounted to at least one of the rail attachment sections of the first mount, and to at least one of the other rail attachment sections of the second mount. The rail attachment sections and the other rail attachment sections are disposed respectively on the first mount and second mount so that when the first mount and second mount are mounted to the firearm, the first mount and second mount provide a number of different selectable mounting stations for mounting the adapter rail to the firearm.

    摘要: A gun operating system for firearms, particularly for a shotgun, includes a bolt/slide movable between a closed position prior to firing and an open position after firing and a link operatively connected to the bolt/slide. An inertial recoil assembly housed in the gun stock is operatively connected to the link and includes a first mechanical an/or gas spring having a higher spring deformation rate in series with a second mechanical spring having a lower spring deformation rate. Upon firing of the gun, the bolt/slide is adapted to move to the open position and the link is adapted to initially deform the first spring in one direction and, subsequently, the first spring is adapted to return to its initial position and move the link and deform the second spring in the opposite direction.
