    摘要: A steam heated dryer cylinder, especially for papermaking machines and the like, in which a hollow cylindrical shell is provided which has the inner surface thereof provided with annular circumferential grooves. Steam is supplied to the interior of the cylinder for heating thereof and the condensate from the steam is withdrawn from the aforementioned grooves. Damlike inserts are provided in spaced relation in the annular grooves to obstruct the circumferential flow of condensate therein and to create intensive turbulence in the condensate thereby to promote even heat transmission over the entire area of the outer surface of the cylinder. The inserts in the annular grooves inside the cylinder are advantageously pressed in position and may range in heighth up to about the level to which condensate collects in the annular grooves.

    摘要: The arrangement for measuring the temperature of a moving object including a temperature-responsive circuit at least part of which is located on the object. The circuit including a moving inductor unit mounted for movement with the object along a predetermined path of motion. A stationary first unit applies an input signal to the temperature-responsive circuit to cause the same to generate a temperature-dependent output signal. A stationary second unit is responsive to the temperature-dependent output signal, and includes a measuring unit for determining the temperature of the object by measuring the response of the second unit to the temperature-dependent output signal. At least one of said first and second units comprises a stationary inductor unit. One of said inductor units comprises at least one pair of spaced electrically connected inductor coils; the other of the inductor units comprises an additional inductor coil. The inductor coils are so oriented that when said object moves in said predetermined manner, the moving inductor unit passes by the stationary inductor unit to establish inductive coupling between said pair of inductor coils and said additional inductor coil. The coils are furthermore so oriented that a change in the orientation of the path of motion of the moving inductor unit with respect to the stationary inductor unit causes a decrease in the maximum coupling between said additional coil and one coil of said pair of coils and concomitantly causes an increase in the maximum coupling between said additional coil and the other coil of said pair of coils, to compensate for said decrease.

    摘要: The specification discloses a roller press for pressing out wet felts and having two larger pressure rollers rotating on parallel axes and spaced apart and a smaller intermediate roller which is located between the two larger pressure rollers so as to define two nips and which intermediate roller is offset to one side of the common plane be pressed out extends through the first nip between the larger roller and the intermediate roller, directly envelopes the smaller roller and then goes back through the second nip thus forming the entire support for the smaller roller. The smaller roller may be formed in axial segments rotatable relative to each other and contoured to compensate for improper movement of the felt. A suction box can be coordinated to the press to exert suction on the press in the region where the felt passes around the smaller intermediate roller. The two pressure rollers can be interconnected so the roller on the side where the felt leaves the press runs slightly faster than the pressure roller where the felt enters the press and whereby the felt is additionally tensioned within the press. At least one of the larger pressure rollers can be peripherally grooved and the intermediate roller can be perforated and have air supplied to the inside thereof while, furthermore, the larger pressure rollers can be perforated and subjected to internal suction. The larger rollers may be provided with deflection compensating devices.
