Abstract:
An automatic piston installation apparatus according to the present invention includes a block positioning mechanism for positioning a cylinder block in a working area separated from a conveying line by moving the cylinder block in vertical and horizontal directions and by rotating the cylinder block around the crankshaft, a piston positioning mechanism for positioning the piston at an insertion position by moving the piston to the working area, a piston inserting mechanism for inserting the piston into a cylinder bore from above in the vertical direction, a cap positioning mechanism for positioning the connecting-rod cap by moving the connecting-rod cap to a fastened position in the working area, and a fastening mechanism for fastening the connecting-rod cap from below in the vertical direction. Thereby, the piston can be installed in various engines, such as inline-type and V-type engines, automatically, with a high degree of accuracy, and reliably, and productivity can also be improved.
Abstract:
A bearing pressure-resistant member, including a matrix and a carbide dispersed in the matrix, the carbide having an average particle size of not more than 0.3 μm. A carbon (C) content in an outer surface of the bearing pressure-resistant member is in a range of 0.6 to 1.5 mass percent. A process for making the bearing pressure-resistant member including subjecting a workpiece containing C to either of gas carburizing and gas carbonitriding to enhance the C content in the outer surface of the workpiece to 0.6 to 1.5 mass percent, holding the workpiece at a first temperature not more than an Ac1 transformation point under reduced pressure, heating the workpiece to a second temperature not less than the Ac1 transformation point under reduced pressure, followed by holding the workpiece at the second temperature, and subjecting the workpiece to quenching.
Abstract:
A shift lever is composed of a lower lever section connected to a control rod of a transmission, and an upper lever section formed with a hollow cylindrical portion and provided with a shift lever knob. The lower lever section is formed with an elongate end portion which is being inserted in the hollow cylindrical portion of the upper lever section. Additionally, lower and upper elastomeric insulators spaced from each other are securely mounted on the elongate end portion of the lower lever section. The lower elastomeric insulator is securely connected to the upper lever section cylindrical portion, while the upper elastomeric insulator is adapted to form a clearance between it and the upper lever section cylindrical portion, thereby avoiding contact between the upper elastomeric insulator and the upper lever section cylindrical portion upon the shift lever being not operated.
Abstract:
A dual reclining device comprising a pair of reclining elements provided on both lateral sides of an automotive seat, with a tubular connecting rod being connected with two shafts respectively of those two reclining elements. The tubular connecting rod has an L-shaped end portion having a longitudinal pressed region and a transverse flange portion, wherein a hole is formed in the transverse flange portion. One of the two reclining element shafts is inserted through such hole of transverse flange portion and welded thereto, while being also welded to the longitudinal pressed region of transverse flange portion. Such easy welding is effective in absorbing both longitudinal and radial errors or non-alignment between the two shafts.
Abstract:
A high bearing pressure-resistant member used as a rolling element forming part of a toroidal continuously variable transmission for an automotive vehicle. The high bearing pressure-resistant member is formed of a mechanical structural steel containing Cr. The mechanical structural steel includes a matrix having at least one of martensite structure and bainite structure. The matrix contains carbide having a mean particle size of 3 &mgr;m or less, dispersed and precipitated in form of at least one of generally spheres and pseudo-spheres.
Abstract:
A shock absorbing assembly disclosed such as an over rider of a bumper, a shock absorbing bumper, a stopper or a guard molding, comprises a core member or members molded of a low density elastomeric material having stud bolts or nuts inserted before molding and embedded therein, and a cover member molded of a high density elastomeric material enclosing the core member inserted before molding the cover member.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an improved bumper construction for an automotive vehicle. The vehicle has a plurality of bumper mounting stays and a body panel adjacent the stays. The bumper construction comprises a thin-walled plastic bumper, a reinforcement member mounted to the bumper at an intermediate section thereof adjacent the body panel and a spring member interposed between the reinforcement member and the vehicle body panel. The reinforcement member and the intermediate section of the bumper are adapted to define a closed bumper configuration. The spring member is operatively connected to the reinforcement member and the vehicle body panel such that the intermediate section of the bumper is supported through the spring member by the body panel. The spring member is rigid in the vertical direction to resist vertical movement of the bumper relative to the vehicle body and is resiliently deformable in the horizontal direction to yieldingly resist the horizontal movement of the intermediate section of the bumper toward the vehicle body panel.
Abstract:
A support is constructed and arranged to absorb a tangential force component of an impact force applied to the steering wheel of the steering column.
Abstract:
A structure of seat back in vehicle seat, wherein a back board element is provided the said backward side of the seat back in such a manner as to normally provide a substantially flat plane rigid enough to withstand one load applied toward a backward side of the back board element, thereby to allow the back board element to be usable as a means for carrying load and cargo thereon, while being resiliently deformable in a backward direction of the vehicle seat by another load applied toward a seat occupant's back support side of said seat back. A plurality of crevices may be defined properly in one side of the back board element so as to effectively permit the back board element to be either in the substantially flat state or in a resiliently deformable state.
