The endoscope system of the present invention includes: an endoscope that has an image pickup device that picks up an observation image of a test object; an image display unit that converts image pickup signals that have been sent from the image pickup device into images and then displays these images; a first mounting portion that is provided in an operating section of the endoscope and on which the image display unit is mounted; and a second mounting portion that is provided in the operating section of the endoscope and on which the image display unit is mounted in a different position from that of the first mounting portion.

An ultrasonic treatment apparatus comprises an endoscope having an insertion portion to be inserted in a body cavity, and a treatment unit having an ultrasonic vibrator which generates ultrasonic vibrations, and a treatment portion which performs treatment by utilizing the ultrasonic vibrations generated by the ultrasonic vibrator. The ultrasonic treatment apparatus further comprises a treatment unit holding portion, which is provided in a distal end portion of the insertion portion and to which the treatment unit is attached, a cable which transmits an electric signal to the ultrasonic vibrator, and at least one bundle member which bundles the insertion portion and the cable.

According to the invention, an infrared communication port of a system controller performs infrared communication with a mobile remote controller, which allows function assignment to the mobile remote controller. The mobile remote controller requests controllable appliance list data to the system controller in response to an operation on a key input select button in a fixed key display area. Then, the mobile remote controller receives the controllable appliance list data, and an appliance operation button is assigned to a function key display area. Thus, multiple controllable appliances can be controlled easily through one mobile remote controller by allowing assigning control functions for the multiple controllable appliances easily to the mobile remote controller.

Endoscopes comprise image pickup elements for picking up images and transmission circuits and the like for transmitting the picked up images with radio waves of different frequencies. In addition, bar codes to code the frequencies used for transmission are provided to the respective endoscopes, the bar code provided to the endoscope used in endoscope inspection is read on a receiver side, and a reception frequency of a station selection unit is set to the read frequency, so that a signal obtained by a desired endoscope can be easily received and imaged even in case a plurality of endoscopes are used.
