    Abstract: The present invention is related to a method for: reducing metals content in a Kraft pulping process comprising adding magnesium to a black liquor that is returned to the pulping operation; reducing aluminum content in a pulping process by adding magnesium to the black liquor to provide a green liquor having a specific molar ratio of magnesium:aluminum; producing or treating a green liquor having a specific molar ratio of magnesium:aluminum by adding magnesium to the black, weak black, strong black liqueurs; and producing hydrotalcite by the addition of at least 0.04-5.0 mols of magnesium:aluminum present at the weak black, strong black liqueurs, or a combination thereof. It is also provided a pulp mill comprising a digester (1), a washer (2), an optionally pulp bleaching, a weak black liquor concentrator (4), among other parts.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved process for producing chemical cellulose pulp wherein biopolymers are added immediately before, during or after a bleaching step, depending on pulp characteristics and on process conditions used. The biopolymers according to the present invention are starches chemically modified by an etherification reaction. This treatment results in a differentiated pulp having improved physical, chemical and mechanical properties when compared with cellulose pulps obtained by traditional processes. The use of said biopolymer alters the relations between important pulp properties rendering their application in papermaking process advantageous. This differentiation increases the possibilities of use and also of new applications, including for the substitution of pulps produced from other cellulose sources. Thus, the present invention also relates to methods of making paper, such as printing, writing, decorative, special or tissue-type papers, through the use of the cellulose pulps modified by the above process.

    Abstract: The present invention is related to a method to produce a treated condensate substantially free of organic matter by treating the condensate with at least one of physical, chemical, chemical-physical treatment or combinations thereof. Further, it is also provided a method to treat a condensate in a pulp processing fiber line utilizing multiple washing stages having at least a treated condensate circulating in a closed loop, prior to feeding the condensate into the fiber line, the method comprising the steps of: a) identifying the colloidal organic compounds in the condensate; b) subjecting the condensate to at least one chemical, physical, chemical-physical treatment or a combination thereof; and c) reducing contamination of the condensate, feeding it to the last washer stage, or to some other stage of the pulping.
