    Abstract: An epitrochoidal vacuum pump includes a housing having a chamber, a rotor rotatably received within the internal space of the chamber, and a drive shaft configured to rotate the rotor eccentrically about an axis within the chamber in an epitrochoidal manner. An externally toothed guide sprocket meshes with and guides movement of a guide gear of the rotor as it is driven by the drive shaft. A chamber inlet draws air under negative pressure into the housing, and an outlet is provided to expulse air under positive pressure from the housing. Further, a fluid inlet is provided to input lubricant along the drive shaft and into the internal space of the chamber. The fluid inlet is communicated by channel(s) in an interior of the housing. The lubricant is drawn into the housing via a pressure differential.

    Abstract: A pump assembly and a method for cooling the same are disclosed. The pump assembly includes a pump, a controller, and a driven electric motor. The pump and the electric motor are on opposing axial sides of the controller. The assembly also has a heat conductive plate positioned between the pump and the controller that conducts heat from the controller. A transfer passage is provided for receiving pressurized fluid output from the pump and to direct the fluid along and in contact with the heat conductive plate to conduct heat therefrom into the pressurized fluid. An outlet passage communicates with the assembly outlet to discharge the pressurized fluid.

    Abstract: A hydraulic-mechatronic system, for a vehicle that is connected to a target system, includes a housing with a fluid reservoir containing fluid, a communication port, a hydraulic pump, an electric motor for driving the hydraulic pump, at least one check valve, and a relief valve fluidly connected to the target system and the fluid reservoir. The relief valve moves between a first valve position, which is inactive and directs fluid to the communication port, and at least a second valve position, which is active and directs fluid from the communication port to the fluid reservoir. The hydraulic pump may rotate in forward and reverse directions. During operation of the hydraulic pump in the reverse direction, the relief valve is active such that the hydraulic-mechatronic system limits delivery of fluid through the communication port and instead directs fluid flow into the fluid reservoir of the housing.

    Abstract: A vane pump has a rotor and a control slide mounted within an internal chamber of a housing. The rotor has a number of vane mounting openings and vanes. Rotation of the rotor generates a pressure differential between inlet and outlet ports of the pump to draw fluid in and output the fluid out. Both the vane mounting openings and vanes are arranged in pairs that are diametrically opposed to one another with respect to the rotor axis. The vanes in each said pair have an intermediate transfer member extending therebetween that shifts with one vane of each said pair retracting radially inwardly by engagement with the internal surface of the rotor receiving space for extension of the opposing vane of each said pair radially outwardly toward the internal surface of the rotor receiving space. The intermediate transfer member may be a pin provided between the vanes of the pair.

    Abstract: A vane pump comprises a housing and a control slide. A rotor rotates to draw lubricant into a rotor receiving space of the slide via a housing inlet and discharges the lubricant via an outlet. The control slide moves to change its eccentricity relative to the rotor for increasing and decreasing a pressure differential between the inlet and outlet. The control slide is biased in a displacement increasing direction. The control slide has one or more seals defining a control chamber with housing. The one or more seals includes a seal assembly received in a recess on a control slide outer surface. The seal assembly has a base element in the recess and a bearing element pivotally attached to the base element and bearing against an inner surface of the housing for sealing. The pivotal attachment includes male and female pivotal connectors coupled together.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a gerotor pump including an inner gear mounted on a first axis, an outer gear mounted on a second axis and meshing internally with the inner gear in an offset manner, and an electrical motor including a rotor and a stator having a radial gap therebetween in a radial direction. The pump also includes a spindle fixedly coupled to the outer gear to facilitate maintaining the radial gap. The spindle is rotatably coupled for rotation about the second axis. The spindle aids in maintaining a consistent radial gap during operation of the gerotor pump. The inner gear may be coupled to a drive shaft for driving the gears. The gerotor pump may be driven via an electric or mechanical driver. A pressure plate may also be positioned adjacent the gerotor gears and within the housing. The spindle and pressure plate help secure the pump parts both axially and radially.

    Abstract: A variable displacement vane pump has a pressure controlled valve moveable between first and at least second valve positions based on an output pressure of the pressurized lubricant delivered through the outlet. The pressure controlled valve provides an integrated fail safe function to the pump when an electrical valve fails. The pressure controlled valve is inactive in the first position for an output pressure below a threshold level, allowing an electrical valve (current, solenoid, pulse width modulation (PWM) valve) to selectively control pressure in the control chamber under normal operation of the pump. In fail safe regulation mode, the electrical valve function is disabled and the pressure controlled valve is active in its second position, controlling pressure in the control chamber. Channels and vents in the pump can be opened and closed based on selective movement of the valve when the outlet pressure is at or above a threshold level.

    Abstract: A vane pump that employs one or more less restricted vanes (or looser vanes) within its rotor is described herein. The less restricted vane(s) are configured to radially move outwardly before the remaining vanes during startup. In one case, for example, at least one vane has a different thickness (e.g., thinner) as compared to the thickness of the remaining vanes. In another case, at least one slot has a different width (e.g., wider) as compared to the width of the other slots. The less restricted vane facilitates a cold start in highly viscous oil by allowing easier radial displacement and thus earlier initial build-up of pressure in the pump. The pump may be used with an engine or transmission.
