Abstract: Embodiments include a method and apparatus for mounting wearable ballistic body armor plates and accessories to a user. Embodiments may include a plate frame assembly comprising one or more plate frames and one or more ballistic body armor plates. The one or more plate frames may at least partially house the one or more ballistic body armor plates and hold them in position with respect to the one or more plate frames. A method of embodiments may include providing one or more plate frames and one or more ballistic body armor plates and using the one or more plate frames to hold the one or more ballistic armor plates in a fixed position with respect to the body armor plates. In some embodiments, the plate frame assembly is resistant to the absorption and/or accumulation of liquids and chemicals.

Abstract: Holster systems useable with pants including a plurality of outer belt loops and a plurality of inner belt openings around a waist portion of the pants are described. The inner belt openings may be disposed at a first spacing around the waist portion. A holster or holder may also be provided including an opening configured to at least partially receive a firearm, preferably a handgun, and a plurality of slots configured to receive a strap of webbing or similar material therethrough. The slots may be spaced apart from one other at approximately the same distance as the first spacing.

The accessory holder may also include flanges, surface treatments, or other features, that assist in holding the accessory in the holder.

Abstract: Load carriage systems are described including one or more of a first chest panel, a first back panel, and a self-adjusting cummerbund connecting the first chest panel and the first back panel. The self-adjusting cummerbund may include a tensioning mechanism configured to allow the cummerbund to extend and retract, and may be configured to provide varying resistive force. The tensioning mechanism may include one or more of a sliding portion, a continuous patterned length of material that is folded over itself, and an elastic member that is attached to the sliding member and the length of material. Body armor plates may be held between outer and inner chest panels and/or between outer and inner back panels. A strip of webbing may be used to secure the body armor plate between the outer and inner panels.

Abstract: A wearable load redistribution system can include a base support structure and a thoracic frame configured to surround an upper torso of a wearer of the system. The base support structure can include a support frame and a plurality of support members disposed at distal ends of the support frame. The thoracic frame can include a coupling structure, a front plate, and a plurality of struts. A connector member can removably connect the coupling structure to the support frame. The plurality of struts is mated to the front plate to redistribute a weight of the front plate away from shoulders of the wearer and towards the base support structure.
