Abstract: A launcher with a digital range finder that controls the operation of a variable velocity control valve that controls the flow of compressed air delivered to the breech. The launcher includes internal air chamber that fills with compressed air and a restrictor plate housing located on one end of the air chamber. The housing includes a center bore axially aligned with the air chamber. Located inside the center bore is a motorized restrictor plate configured to permit or block the flow of air from the air chamber into the breech. During operation, distance readings from the range finder are processed by a main microprocessor into motor signals that selective rotate the restrictor plate to control the flow of pressurized air and control the distance the projectile travels. In a second embodiment, the launcher is used with a computer controlled ballistic that includes a secondary microprocessor coupled to the main processor that triggers a secondary explosion inside the projectile after being launched.

Abstract: A ballistic designed to be used with a launcher with a laser range finder that controls the operation of a variable velocity control valve located inside the ballistic. In one embodiment, designed to be used with a firing pin style launcher, the ballistic includes an internal compressed air source and an internal restrictor plate. The restrictor plate includes a plurality of holes that control the velocity of the compressed air in the ballistic. Located inside the ballistic is a drive motor coupled to the microprocessor on the launcher. The micro processor produces motor control signals that control the rotation position of a high/slow stop to selectively block or unblock holes formed in the restrictor plate and thereby control the velocity of compressed air against the projectile.

Abstract: A variable velocity pneumatic launcher including at least one chamber filled with a projectile. The launcher includes a ballast chamber filled with pressurized air selectively released to propel a projectile from the launcher's barrel. The launcher includes a firing chamber filled with ambient air and a ballast chamber filled with pressurized air. A piston rod extends between the chambers and attaches to a firing piston and a ballast piston located inside the firing chamber and ballast chamber, respectively. The rod is connected to an adjustable velocity valve which controls the amount of longitudinal movement of the rod. When the trigger is activated, a portion of the pressurized air from the ballast chamber is delivered to the firing chamber. Because the surface area of the firing piston is greater than the ballast piston's surface area, the force exerted on the firing piston is sufficient to shift or displace the ballast piston and allow pressurize air to be released into the upper chamber containing the projectile.

Abstract: A barrel breech lock and mechanism for a projectile launcher chat uses a launcher body, a lower rail extending forward and under the launcher's barrel breech and a pivotally mounted latch plate. Extending downward extending from the latch plate is a front handgrip. Disposed between the lower rail and the latch plate and directly above the front handgrip is a locking mechanism that selectively blocks rotation of the proximal end of the latch plate. In two embodiments, the locking mechanism is a biased lateral push button or a biased sliding button. When the lock mechanism is activated, the proximal end of the latch plate may be rotated downward by a twisting force applied via the from handgrip. Disposed between the proximal end of the latch plate and the barrel breech is a second lock mechanism that includes a pin. The end of the pin engages a stop surface formed on the barrel breech when axially aligned in the breech void area. The first lock mechanism can be easily activated with the hand holding the from handgrip. Because the first and second lock mechanisms must be sequentially activated in order to open the barrel breech, the operation of the projective launcher is safer.

Abstract: A delay release device that connects to an aerosol filled canister that releases the aerosol in a delayed manner. The device includes a main body with a first plunger assembly mounted on one end. Formed adjacent to the first plunger assembly is a first chamber filled with a compressed gas pressurized from 40 to 150 psi based on the time delay desired. In the main body adjacent to the first chamber is a second chamber and a third chamber. Located inside the third chamber is a second plunger with a hollow stem introduced into a top valve assembly on the canister. To activate, the first plunger assembly is pressed inward which activates a second valve disposed between the first and second chambers. The second valve allows compressed gas to flow slowly from the first chamber into the second chamber and into the third chamber. The increased air pressure in the upper portion of the third chamber exerts a downward force on the second plunger which forces the hollow stem into canister and causes the aerosol gas to be released into a lower discharge chamber and then through holes formed on the main body.
