摘要:
Ophthalmic lenses are described including an ophthalmic base, and a plurality of electro-active elements, such as dynamic micro-lenses or micro-prismatic apertures. Each electro-active element may be configured to dynamically change optical power. The ophthalmic lens may be configured such that an optical power of the ophthalmic lens focuses mostly one image at one time on the retina of the eye of the wearer. The ophthalmic lens may be, for example, a spectacle lens, other types of specialty lenses such as used for gaming and the like, a contact lens, an intra-ocular lens, and intra-ocular optic, etc. Each electro-active element may include liquid crystal, such as dichroic, non-dichroic, nematic, and/or cholesteric liquid crystal. The electro-active elements may comprise non-dichroic liquid crystal, and gaps between the electro-active elements may include a dichroic liquid crystal, or the electro-active elements may be shaped and arranged in a substantially conformal pattern.

A sensor system includes at least two sensors for distinguishing accommodative stimuli from changes in ambient lights levels and task-induced changes in the pupil diameter. When implanted, the first sensor is disposed completely within the pupil; even when fully constricted, the pupil does not occlude the first sensor, allowing the sensor to make precise measurements of ambient luminous flux levels. The pupil occludes part of the second sensor's active area(s) as the pupil dilates and constricts. As a result, the second sensor measures both ambient luminous flux and pupil diameter. A processor estimates the pupil diameter and determines whether it's changing in response to accommodative stimuli or other factors by comparing to predetermined values. The sensor system sends a signal to an optical component, which in turn can respond by changing optical power to focus for near vision upon detection of accommodative stimuli.

Eyewear including an optical functional member, control electronics, and a sealed electrical connective element connecting the electronics to the optical functional member. The connective element can directly connect the electronics to the optical functional member, or can connect through an intermediate contact, e.g., a plug-and-receptacle. The connective element can be routed from the electronics, around a rimlock of the eyewear to the optical functional member. The connective element can be a conductive compressible member, such as conductive rubber. In some embodiments, the connective element can be a multiconductor cable.

An ophthalmic lens including an electro-active optical element including a substrate; a liquid crystalline material; and at least one first layer. The at least one first layer can include a layer of silicon oxide (SiOx) disposed between the liquid crystalline material and the substrate, and deposited onto a surface of the substrate at an oblique angle in reference to a plane normal to the mean surface of the substrate facing the liquid crystalline material.

The invention relates to a method for controlling a portable electronic device comprising a power storage device by means of which the electronic device is supplied or can be supplied either indirectly or directly with power. The inventive method is characterized in that a date/period is stored in the electronic device and that a charge status indication regarding the charge status of the electronic device is output depending on the charge status of the power storage device and on the date/period.

A film suitable for use in an ophthalmic system is provided. The film may selectively inhibit blue light within the wavelength range of 400 nm to 460 nm to reduce phototoxic light to the eye while maintaining photopic vision, and may be color balanced to allow for the system into which the film is incorporated to be perceived as colorless to a viewer observing and/or using the system. The system may have a photopic and scotopic luminous transmission of 85% or more and a phototoxicity ratio of less than 80%. When used in an ophthalmic system or other system disposed between an observer's eye and a light source, the film may reduce the flux of blue light to the internal structures of the eye while reducing or minimizing dilation of the pupil.

An ophthalmic lens is presented in which the lens includes a progressive addition legion and a dynamic optic. The dynamic optic and the progressive addition region are in optical communication. The progressive addition region has an add power which is less than a user's neat viewing distance add power. The dynamic optic, when activated, provides the additional needed optical power for the wearer to see clearly at a near distance. This combination leads to the unexpected result that not only does the wearer have the ability to see clearly at intermediate and near distances, but the level of unwanted astigmatism, distortion, and vision compromise ale reduced significantly.

A composite lens assembly comprising an electro-active lens assembly, a first lens wafer, and a second lens wafer is provided. The electro-active lens assembly has an upper substrate layer with a planar upper surface and a lower substrate layer with a planar lower surface. The first lens wafer has a planar lower wafer surface adjacent and parallel to the planar upper surface of the upper substrate layer of the electro-active lens assembly. The second lens wafer has a planar upper, wafer surface adjacent and parallel to the planar lower surface of the lower substrate layer of the electro-active lens assembly.
