摘要: An electronic liquid level gauge assembly includes an electronic display located in a housing connected to a tank. The display has first and second display portions for indicating liquid level condition. A first electronic sensor senses a change in magnetic field of a magnet associated with a liquid level transducer, with magnet rotation being proportional liquid level change. A processor determines a temperature-compensated liquid level condition by correlating the liquid level signal with temperature measurement of the liquid. A temperature-compensated vapor space can also be calculated based on tank information and properties of the liquid. Signals related to the temperature-compensated liquid level and vapor space are sent to the display and wirelessly transmitted to a smart phone or the like for remotely viewing the tank information. The smart phone also includes a special app for sending information, firmware updates, and display configuration data to the electronic gauge assembly.

The signal generator has a first analog timing circuit for actuating a slow-rising function of voltage versus time, a second analog timing circuit associated with the first analog timing circuit for actuating a fast-rising function of voltage versus time, and a receive circuit electrically connected to the electrodes, the receive circuit being activated for receiving return echo data associated with the electromagnetic signal transmitted when the fast-rising function is equal or greater than the slow-rising function to determine the position of the second medium with respect to the electrodes.

摘要: A method of calibrating a TDR measurement comprising determining an echo profile of a calibration trace, and comparing a determined length of an actual physical length taking into account dimensional variables due to temperature fluctuations, then deriving and storing a calibration factor, and using that calibration factor to determine a system clock distance calibration, with the calibration factor being a ratio of the clock cycles to ensure that the determined electronic length is equal to the actual physical length. Once the system clock has been calibrated, measurement of the distance along the probe to the liquid height, plunger height, and so on, can then be determined with very high accuracy, using very low-cost electronic components.

摘要: A time domain reflectometer (TDR) transducer (10) for determining a level (24) of liquid (16) in a container (12) includes a first electrode (34) and a second electrode portion (36) with a measuring volume (114) therebetween for receiving material (16) to be measured. The second electrode portion (36) has a shielded electrode section (36A) isolated from the first electrode (34) and an unshielded electrode section (36B), such that an energy pulse propagates along the shielded electrode section (36A) without signal loss, and boomerangs along a second opposite direction across the first conductive electrode portion (34), the measuring volume (114) and the unshielded electrode section (36B) where partial reflection of the pulse occurs at least at the interface (24) of the material (16) to create a return echo that travels in reverse direction, boomeranging back through the shielded electrode section (36A) for analysis by an electronic assembly (32).
