Abstract:
The present disclosure envisages a process for pelletizing carbon black by mixing carbon black powder and water in a proportion in the range of 0.1:2 to 2:1 with a binding agent and a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent is an amine-based surfactant and is added in a proportion in the range of 0.005-0.1% of the total mixture. The mixture is pelletized in a pelletizer and subsequently the raw pellets are dried for 20-60 minutes at a temperature between 150-250° C., to obtain the carbon black pellets. The process of the present disclosure provides uniform distribution of water on the surface of the pellets giving a uniform pellet quality, reduced water consumption, energy savings and an increased production rate.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an adsorbent comprising a densified carbon black. The densified carbon black comprising the adsorbent preferably has an increase in density of from about 100% to about 500% above the undensified form of the adsorbent. The densified carbon black adsorbent has an increase in adsorption capacity per unit volume over the undensified form of the adsorbent in excess of 100%. The densified carbon blacks are particularly useful as adsorbents for gases.
Abstract:
An adsorbent composition containing a modified carbonaceous material capable of adsorbing an adsorbate is disclosed, wherein at least one organic group is attached to the carbonaceous material. Furthermore, methods to increase the adsorption capacity of a carbonaceous material capable of adsorbing an adsorbate and methods to adsorb an adsorbate using the above-described adsorbent composition are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A process for desulphurization of petroleum oil, comprising the step of diluting the feed oil with a suitable organic solvent prior to the desulphurization reaction, is disclosed. The organic solvent is selected from alkanes, alkenes, cyclic alkenes and alkynes, and particularly selected from n-hexane, cyclohexane, heptane, pentene, hexene, heptene, octene, toluene and xylene. The solvent concentration in the mixture of feed oil and solvent is in the range of 0.1-70%.
