摘要: A fermentation process for producing magnesium lactate from a carbon source including the steps of: providing a fermentation medium including a fermentable carbon source in a fermentation reactor; fermenting the fermentation medium by a lactic acid producing microorganism in the presence of an alkaline magnesium salt to provide a fermentation broth including magnesium lactate; and recovering solid magnesium lactate from the magnesium lactate containing fermentation broth, wherein during at least 40% of the operating time of the fermentation process, the concentration of solid magnesium lactate in the fermentation broth is maintained in the range of 5-40 vol. %, calculated as solid magnesium lactate crystals on the total of the fermentation broth. The process allows stable operation at high productivity, in combination with efficient product separation.

摘要: A method for conversion of magnesium chloride into magnesium oxide and HCl includes the steps of providing a magnesium chloride compound to a thermohydrolysis reactor, the reactor being at a temperature of at least 300° C., withdrawing MgO from the thermohydrolysis reactor in solid form, and withdrawing an HCl containing gas stream from the thermohydrolysis reactor. The magnesium chloride compound provided to the thermohydrolysis reactor may be a solid magnesium chloride compound which comprises at least 60 wt. % of MgCl2.4H2O.

摘要: A process for manufacturing propionate products through fermentation, including the steps of fermenting a carbon source selected from sugars and lactate in a fermentation medium by means of a propionic acid producing microorganism to provide a first fermentation broth comprising a propionate salt, recovering propionic acid producing microorganism from the first fermentation broth, subjecting the first fermentation broth from which propionic acid producing microorganism have been recovered to a water removal step to form a first propionate salt product, fermenting a carbon source comprising glycerol with the propionic acid producing microorganism recovered from the first fermentation broth in the presence of an inorganic alkaline salt to provide a second fermentation broth comprising a propionate salt, subjecting the second fermentation broth to a purification step comprising at least one precipitation step, to form a second propionate salt product. The process allows efficient manufacture of propionate salts products.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for quantification of the amount of lactide in a lactide-based polymeric matrix by means of Infra Red Spectroscopy measurement. According to the invention the quantification is based on measurements performed on absorptions in the near Infra Red region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The invented method allows a rapid, easy and cheap quantification of lactide in a polymeric matrix, especially in PLA.

摘要: A polylactic acid nano-fiber membrane and preparation method thereof. In particular, the membrane has PLA nanofibers with an average diameter between 50 nm and 200 nm, wherein the nanofibers contain a crystal phase with a volume fraction between 45% and 85% and the crystal phase contains PLA stereocomplex crystals with a volume fraction between 85% and 95%. The method of preparation includes mixing dried PDLA and PLLA in a specific PLLA/PDLA ratio of between 95/5 and 99/1; producing continuous fibers or nonwovens in a extrusion and spinning device, and producing woven fabrics or nonwovens with the continuous fibers; heat treating the woven fabrics or nonwovens; washing the heat treated woven fabrics or nonwovens with a solvent; removing the solvent and drying the woven fabrics or nonwovens; and pressing the dried woven fabrics or nonwovens for making the membrane.

摘要: A method for recovering lactic acid from an aqueous mixture including the steps of: providing an aqueous mixture including lactic acid and at least 5 wt. % dissolved magnesium chloride, based on the total weight of water and dissolved material in the aqueous mixture; extracting the lactic acid from the aqueous mixture into a first organic liquid including an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of C5+ ketones, diethylether and methyl-tertiary-butyl-ether, thereby obtaining an organic lactic acid solution and an aqueous waste liquid including magnesium chloride; and extracting the lactic acid from the organic lactic acid solution into an aqueous liquid, thereby obtaining an aqueous lactic acid solution and a second organic liquid. The method according to the invention allows a combined purification and concentration step for feed solutions of lactic acid.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing polylactide, comprising the steps of mixing lactide and a metal-coordination compound as polymerization catalyst to obtain a reaction mixture, polymerizing the lactide in liquid phase at a temperature of at least 150° C. to form polylactide in liquid phase and allowing the polylactide to solidify, characterized in that the polymerization catalyst comprises a metal-ligand coordination compound whereby the parent ligand answers the formula (I), whereby R represents an H atom, an aliphatic group, a halide atom or a nitro group and the metal is at least one of Zr and Hf. The invented catalysts show kinetics which is comparable to the kinetics of the known Sn-octoate catalyst.

摘要: The present invention relates to a polyester polyol, suitable for use in the manufacture of a polyurethane, suitable for use in the manufacture of a polyurethane, the polyester polyol having an ABA-structure, in which A represents a lactide-oligomer and in which B represents an initiator. The initiator includes a reaction product having long chain dicarboxylic acid components having 18 or more carbon atoms. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of the polyester polyol. The invention further pertains to polyurethanes including the before-mentioned polyester polyol as well as the use of these polyurethanes as an elastomer having a high toughness. The toughness is believed to originate from the combination of the hydrophobic character of the initiator and the hydrophilic character of the lactide parts in the polyol structure. The strength of the invented polylactide-polyurethane elastomers can be further improved by incorporating a carbodiimide in the elastomer material.
