摘要： A foundation brake rigging arrangement for railway cars includes anchoring rods and brake rigging rods which are supported beneath the axles of each of the wheeled trucks provided at opposite ends of the car. The brake beams for each pair of wheels in a truck are actuated by brake levers respectively connected to a connecting rod at their upper ends and to the brake lever rod and foundation rod at their other ends. The brake levers each comprise two pieces interconnected to accommodate variations in vertical height which occur between the connections of the rods resulting from normal truck operation.

摘要： An apparatus for use in supporting tubular goods such as pipe for welding to flanges, elbows, reducers, and the like, which incorporates a pair of elongate parallel rails on which similar carriages roll, the carriages each including means raising and lowering a turntable on the carriages, the turntable being rotated about a vertical axis and having locked positions which enable the turntables to position fittings for welding to a pipe, the apparatus further including pipe supports which selectively erect between the rails to support a pipe at a specified elevation, the pipe support including rollers which support a pipe for rotation, and including a power unit for rotating a roller causing pipe to rotate, thereby enabling a bead to be welded around the pipe. This enables the pipe to be connected to a fitting supported on a movable carriage.

摘要： A vehicle mounted switching arrangement for use in a static switching track structure having no moving track sections whereby the passenger vehicle is moved laterally by engagement of the car mounted rail grabbing device to permit the flange of the wheel opposite the actuated rail engaging device to be spaced a short distance from the supporting rail. After the lateral movement of the vehicle the car is in position to move into a switch track which is positioned in the space between the wheel flange and main supporting rail. This switch track then permits the passenger vehicle to be switched off the main line and through a curved section into a second switch track. The rail grabbing mechanism which is mounted on the passenger vehicle includes an interconnected rail grabbing device on each side of the vehicle which permit only one rail grabbing arm to engage a track at a time.

摘要： A railway car door of the sliding plug type is positioned within the door frame arrangement in the side of a car. The door frame arrangement comprises horizontally spaced side posts, an upper horizontally extending side plate structure and a lower side sill. The door posts which define the sides of the opening are provided with flanges which cooperate with flanges on the door to substantially close the door openings. The flanges on the door and on the side posts are also provided with a water drain structure including vertically extending lips which project outwardly with respect to the door opening and cooperate with waterguards supported on the post flanges to provide vertically extending drain troughs at the corners of the door posts.

摘要： A chassis-to-container locking arrangement which includes a housing defined by the lateral end extension of the chassis crossmember, the housing including a cam slot which has a front horizontal slotted portion and said slot having a side vertical slot portion connecting with the front slot portion which side slotted portion allows the handle to move a locking cone to a locked position, with a slightly outwardly sloping lower edge and an inner lower cutout section for entrapping the handle for holding the locking cone in an unlocked position and although the locking cone may be held in either the locked or unlocked position by gravity a biasing spring connected to the handle and the interior of the housing aids in seating the handle in a biased down location attendant to locking or unlocking of the locking cone. By this arrangement the locking cone is rotated 90* in going from its locked position to its unlocked position.

摘要： A cushioned underframe of the sliding sill type is provided with a cushion pocket within which a hydraulic cushioning unit is disposed. The cushion pocket which includes an opening in the bottom wall of the stationary sill is normally covered by a cover and carrier plate which is removably connected to the stationary sill. The cover and carrier plate is provided with an anchoring s top which projects downwardly below the carrier plate and is supported on a base plate which is connected to side shear plates, in turn rigidly bolted to the side walls of the stationary sill. The cushioning unit and anchoring assembly with the carrier plate provide means whereby the cushion may be readily installed and removed in the cushion pocket.

摘要： A hopper type railway car is provided with a longitudinally extending hatch opening having a plurality of longitudinally spaced covers movable from open to closed positions. The covers are adapted to overlie rectangular coamings defining each of the openings, with said covers being hingedly connected to the roof of the railroad car and including operating means for moving the covers laterally, initially from a closed position, thereby disengaging locking means whereby the covers may then be hingedly moved to open position. The operating means is actuated by holddown members which provide leverage for initiating a caming mechanism effective to provide for said lateral movement and also seal and lock the covers in a closed position.
