摘要： A novel tracking control device and method is disclosed. In the tracking control device and method, digital information is reproduced from a recording medium by a reproducing head, an error contained in the reproduced digital information is detected, and the relative position between the recording medium and the reproducing head is controlled by using the detection result. In addition, an arrangement capable of realizing a high tracking capability with respect to the non-linearity of a track is also disclosed. The arrangement forms a plurality of tracking error signals indicative of positional deviations between the reproducing head and a plurality of divided areas into which each track formed on the recording medium is divided, and selectively uses the plurality of tracking error signals.

摘要： A video signal reproducing apparatus which is arranged to reproduce a composite signal formed by superimposing plural kinds of pilot signals of different frequencies upon a video signal one after another from recording tracks formed by the composite signal on a recording medium comprises: a plurality of reproducing heads arranged to trace the recording tracks one after another on the recording medium; a switch-over device for producing the outputs of the plurality of reproducing heads by switching them over from one to another; a reference signal generating device for producing plural kinds of reference signals of different frequencies which are substantially the same as those of the pilot signals; selecting device for selectively producing one of the plural kinds of reference signals generated by the reference signal generating means; a detecting device for detecting the positional errors of the reproducing heads relative to the recording tracks by using the reference signal obtained from the selecting means in conjunction with at least one of the plural kinds of pilot signals; and a control device for controlling the selecting means with the outputs of the reproducing heads not included in the output of the switch-over device.

摘要： Information recording/reproducing apparatus such as a VTR records and reproduces information such as image information in and from a recording medium such as a magnetic tape. The apparatus has a tape feeding device which can feed the tape selectively at a first speed which is the same as the tape speed during recording and a second speed which is, for example, 1/2 the first speed. In a slow-speed reproducing mode of the apparatus, the tape is fed intermittently such that a phase in which the tape is fed at the second speed and a phase in which the tape is held still appear alternately. During the running of the tape at the low second speed, a predetermined region, e.g. a track, is traced by reproducing heads a plurality of times in an overlapping manner, so that fractions of data stored in the track are reproduced by the reproducing heads. These data fractions are reassembled within a memory based on address data contained in the reproduced data fractions, so that a video output is synthesized in the memory. With this arrangement, data can be obtained from almost the entire area of each track, so that slow-speed reproduction can be conducted with improved quality of the reproduced image.
