Abstract: A horse blanket includes a blanket shell to protect a horse from cold and moisture, and when needed in colder weather, it can be augmented by insertion of one of several insulators into a space provided between layers of the blanket shell. The blanket shell's outer layer is waterproof and weather-resistant, with the inner layer that bears against the horse having a surface comfortable to the horse. The outer layer has one and preferably two elongated access openings, positioned to be at left and right sides of the horse, for inserting, removing or exchanging insulative inserts.

Abstract: A fly mask for horses has a cage structure supporting a mesh, the structure being formed of semi-rigid plastic splines which hold the mesh away from the eyes and most of the surfaces of the horse's head. In a preferred form the fly mask has protruding lines at the location of the splines, protecting the mask against excessive wear due to rubbing of the mask against posts or other building structure when worn. A detachable protective nose guard can be included.

Abstract: A foldable knife, which can be a pocket knife, has a spine with a generally arcuate cutout or indentation, over which is secured a thumb bridge, leaving the indentation open between the spine and the bridge. To open the blade the user extends a thumb below the thumb bridge to pivot the blade out of a slot in the housing. With the blade fully opened, the thumb bridge provides an ergonomic engagement point for the thumb of the user when gripping the handle.

Abstract: A roper's glove is of knitted construction and designed to reduce bulk in the knuckles so as to allow a high degree of flexibility and a full range of motion in gripping and handling a rope. Most of the glove is of normal knit construction, but across knuckles the knitting courses are formed of a substantially lighter and less bulky feeder yarn to provide flexibility. Preferably about five such courses comprising the lighter feeder yarn are included at each knuckle, separated by several normal knitting courses. With reduced bulk in the knuckles, when the hand is closed around a rope the user has better contact with the rope for enhanced feel and control.
