摘要: A blower fan assembly is provided which includes a blower housing, an exhaust port having an air passage connected to the housing and an impeller assembly rotatably received within the housing. A sound attenuator is also provided to be received in the exhaust port. The attenuator includes at least one edge which extends into the housing to provide a gradual cutoff point. Air moving ahead of the rotating impeller vanes is partially redirected through the exhaust port by the attenuator. Remaining air is directed over and around the attenuator and is forced out of the housing at the cutoff point created where the exhaust port joins the housing. The redirection of air alleviates compression/decompression at the cutoffs thereby reducing the pulsing noise associated therewith.

摘要: A self-propelled appliance, such as a vacuum cleaner includes a magnetic field sensor and magnet. A relative position between the magnetic field sensor and the magnet can be changed by a user of the appliance. The magnetic field sensor generates a signal indicating a magnetic field sensed by the sensor. Therefore, the magnetic field sensor signal indicates the relative position of the magnet to the sensor. This relative position signal is interpreted as a speed and direction request for a means for propelling the appliance. The magnetic filed sensor is, for example, a Hall effect sensor. The means for propelling includes, for example, a brushless d.c motor, sensorless motor or switched reluctance motor. Forward and reverse propulsion is provided without the use of a clutch. The appliance includes a reduced number of wearing components.

摘要: A blower fan assembly for removing combusted by-products and flue gas from a furnace is presented. The blower fan assembly includes a housing with a cavity for receiving a blower fan. The housing is secured over an opening in a furnace so that when the blower fan rotates, flue gas is drawn from the furnace to an exhaust conduit outside the building in which the furnace is received. The blower fan includes a fan ring connected to a fan disc by a plurality of vanes which are parallel with the axis of rotation. A motor, mounted to the housing, rotates the fan disc. The blower fan draws air in through the fan ring, through the plurality of vanes and out through the exhaust conduit. A static pressure tap is located in the housing and is connected to a pressure sensor which measures the static pressure generated by the blower fan as it rotates. By employing a plurality of pressure openings in the fan disc, a predictable range of static pressures can be generated within the cavity which allows the pressure sensor to monitor whether the blower fan assembly is working properly. Thus, if the pressure sensor determines that the blower fan is not working, the furnace is turned off. This precludes generation of flue gas that might accumulate in the building receiving the furnace. By adjusting the number of pressure openings, the blower fan assembly can be designed so that the static pressure tap is in only one location and does not have to be placed in different locations for each particular use of the blower fan assembly with a particular furnace.

摘要: A snubber is disclosed for use on an airplane translating door hinge arm (13) comprising a hydraulic device (41) and a flow regulation system (40). The hinge arm (13) includes sprockets (25, 27) placed at the ends (15, 17) of the hinge arm (13). Roller chain pieces (31) rotate partially about the sprockets (25, 27). A pneumatic actuator (33) having a through-rod (37) and housing (35) is located on one side of the hinge arm (13). The actuator housing (35) is supported by a support member (23) integral with the hinge arm (13). The ends of the actuator through-rod (43) are each coupled to first ends of each of the roller chain pieces (31). The hydraulic device (41) comprising a housing (47), a through-rod (43), a piston 45, a first compartment (49), a second compartment (51), and hydraulic fluid, is also supported by the support member (23). The ends of the hydraulic device through-rod (43) are each coupled to second ends of each of the roller chain pieces (31). The hydraulic device (41) is located on the side of the hinge arm (13) opposite the side having the actuator (33). Also provided is a snubber fluid flow regulation system (40) comprising first and second flow regulators (59, 65) and first and second high pressure relief valves (61, 67), one each for use during door opening and door closing. A compensator (71) is also provided in the fluid flow regulation system (40) to hydraulically compensate the snubber (41) during temperature changes and to supply make-up fluid in case there is external leakage.

摘要: A hinge arm (16) has opposite ends (18, 20) pivotably connected to an aircraft door (2) and a door frame (8). First and second sprockets (22, 26) are fixed to the door (2) and frame (8) adjacent to the ends (18, 20). A programming chain (30) extends around the sprockets (22, 26) and the arm (16). A linear motor (36) is mounted on the arm (16) in-line with the chain (30). When pressurized gas is supplied to the motor (36), it moves the chain (30) to open the door (2) and maintain it parallel to its closed position as it moves toward and into its fully open position. The door (2) may be opened manually without moving the motor piston (44) because the motor rod (52) slides freely through an axial opening (46) in the piston (44).

摘要: A self-propelled vacuum cleaner includes a base having a suction inlet. An upright housing is pivotally mounted to the base. A suction source is disposed in one of the base and the upright housing to generate an airflow at the suction inlet. A dust collection chamber is mounted to one of the base and the upright housing and communicates with the suction inlet and the suction source. A drive motor is mounted to the base. A driven wheel is operatively connected to the drive motor. A handle assembly is mounted to the upright housing, wherein the handle assembly includes an upper handle, a handle grip assembly slidably mounted to the upper handle, and a neutral return spring fastened to the upper handle and engaging the handle grip assembly to urge the handle grip assembly to a neutral position.
