Abstract:
An improved frame processing apparatus for a network that supports high speed frame processing is disclosed. The frame processing apparatus uses a combination of fixed hardware and programmable hardware to implement network processing, including frame processing and media access control (MAC) processing. Although generally applicable to frame processing for networks, the improved frame processing apparatus is particular suited for token-ring networks and ethernet networks. The invention can be implemented in numerous ways, including as an apparatus, an integrated circuit and network equipment.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a node being inserted into a token ring local area network to sense the data transmission speed of the token ring LAN and automatically setting the data transmission speed of the node to match the data transmission speed of the token ring LAN. The token ring LAN may operate at either 4 megabits per second or 16 megabits per second. The node recovers data transmitted on the token ring, and determines, based thereon, the speed of the data transmission and configures the speed at which the node transmits and receives data to/from the token ring network accordingly.

The electric motor has a rotor (1), at least two magnet segments (2, 2′), a magnetic return path ring (3) and a housing (4) consisting of aluminum. The housing (4) has at least one helical projection (4′) on its outer side parallel to the longitudinal axis of the electric motor. An outer cover (5) in the form of a cup is arranged around the housing (4), the at least one helical projection (4′) resting against the inner side of said outer cover, wherein the outer cover (5) in the form of a cup has a coolant inlet (6) and a coolant outlet (7).

A multiple voice-coil cone-driver for driving a loudspeaker includes a first voice-coil, and a second voice-coil coupled in parallel to the first voice-coil. Together, the first and second voice-coils in parallel are characterized by a baseline frequency response with an upper threshold frequency. In addition, at least one additional voice-coil (e.g., a third voice-coil) is coupled in parallel to the first and second voice-coils. The additional voice-coil(s), in conjunction with the first and second voice-coils, provide an enhanced frequency response in comparison to the baseline frequency response. One aspect of the enhanced frequency response is that it has an extended upper threshold frequency compared to the baseline frequency response, providing for more accurate reproduction of music and speech from a single speaker.
Abstract:
A controllable-gain amplifier is connected between the transmitter and receiver of a telephone set and is controlled in response to the level of the telephone user's speech so as to provide an increase in gain when the user speaks too loud and a decrease in gain when the user speaks too low. This results in a sidetone which causes the user to change his or her voice level to obtain an acceptable level of sidetone. A better-controlled user voice level is thus achieved.
