Abstract:
A printing system includes a plurality of print media processing modules which transfer print media therebetween during printing and a fault management agent associated with each of the modules for acquiring fault-related data from the respective processing module. A fault management system is in communication with the fault management agents and receives fault-related data from the fault management agents. The fault management system processes the fault related data to identify faults in the system, such as when a first of the processing modules is a cause of fault-related data acquired in a second of the processing modules. When a fault is identified, a reconfiguration agent may reconfigure the printing system to mitigate an impact of at least one of the identified faults.
Abstract:
What is disclosed is a web-based system which comprises, in part, video analysis modules for performing different types of analysis services on a video, and a server in network communication with a user's computing device. A user selects one or more menu options displayed on a webpage. Each of the menu options is associated with a respective video analysis available to the user. The user makes their election and, within the same session, uploads to the server a video desired to be analyzed with respect to each of the video analysis services selected by the user. Once the server has obtained the user's selection(s) and has received the uploaded video, the server communicates the video to each video analysis module associated with each of the respective analysis services. Upon each completion of the video analysis, the results are communicated back to the user. Various embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A system that extends the operational effectiveness of an image reproduction machine without requiring downtime for service by personnel includes a detection subsystem that monitors components of an image reproduction system for detecting a banding defect in the image reproduction system and an automated compensation subsystem for modifying operation of the image reproduction system to compensate for the detected banding defect so that the image reproduction system continues to generate images at an acceptable quality level. The automated compensation subsystem adjusts components and/or data used by image reproduction system to compensate for the identified banding defect without requiring immediate operator or service personnel intervention. This compensation may successfully attenuate the banding defect so that the image reproduction system continues to produce acceptable images without downtime while awaiting service by personnel. The system may also include a diagnostic subsystem for determining causes for a detected banding defect to further enhance the operation of the compensation system or to facilitate a repair action by a person.
Abstract:
A feedback control system controls developability of a xerographic imaging device that uses optical sensors for measuring development values based upon a target value. The feedback control system includes a controller device and a feedforward device. The controller device includes an input summing node, a gain device, an integrator and a nominal summing node which are serially connected in communication with each other. The input summing node, the gain device and the integrator are operative in combination with each other to receive and process the measured value and the target value to provide an new corrected actuator value to the integrator summing node. The feedforward device is connected to the nominal summing node and receives and responds to the target value to output a nominal actuator value to the nominal summing node. The nominal summing node combines the new corrected actuator value and the nominal actuator value to provide an actuator value to the xerographic imaging device for controlling the developability of the xerographic imaging device. A method for controlling developability of a xerographic imaging device is also described.
Abstract:
A method and system generate a workflow for the production of a three-dimensional document. A knowledge base contains production rules for several dimensional documents. The production rules relate to a plurality of jobs, i.e., units of work involved in the production of a dimensional document. The rules also identify human and/or mechanical resources required to complete each job. The system receives, from multiple service providers, capability information corresponding to each service provider's available resources. The capability information is associated with the production rules and stored in the knowledge base. When a user selects a dimensional document to be produced, the system selects appropriate production rules for the document, accesses the associated capability information, and automatically generates a workflow for the document. The system distributes various jobs in the workflow among at least two different service providers.
Abstract:
Partial access to electronic documents and aggregation for secure document distribution is disclosed. The embodiments herein relate to providing access to electronic documents and, more particularly, to providing access to portions of electronic documents and aggregating such portions in secure document distribution environment. Existing document distribution mechanisms do not provide means to access partial documents based on the attributes such as roles of the agents within an organization, location of access, time of access, device ID and so on. The disclosed method allows agents to access partial contents of documents based on the attributes. Meta data tags are attached to the documents in order to control the access of the documents by the defined attributes. The agent who wishes to access the document enters his credential and based on the credentials he is provided access to the content that is assigned for him
Abstract:
A method for automated image quality based diagnosis of a document printing system is disclosed. The method comprises receiving image data to be printed on a document; printing an image on the document based on the image data; scanning the printed image on the document with a sensor; analyzing the scanned printed image with an image quality analysis module to identify one or more defects in the printed image; automatically generating test pattern image data based on the one or more identified defects; and printing and analyzing a test pattern image based on the test pattern image data.
Abstract:
Described herein is a printing system having one or more modules for reproducing an image on a substrate; a print media source that supplies the substrate; a finisher that provides finishing capabilities for the substrate; and a controller that uses an unhealthy module with a faulty charger, developer, transferor, cleaner, fuser, etc. to partially process a job.
Abstract:
During the operation of a document processing system machine and job data are collected from a document processing system. Optionally, machine information, both for the specific machine and population based data are acquired from a database or server. Having accumulated the job data and machine data, the diagnostic inference engine performs an analysis to determine the initial diagnosis of the document processing system. After obtaining the initial diagnosis, the system determines the test patterns to be printed and the image quality tests to be performed. The system then prints test patterns, and scans the patterns to determine image quality parameters and/or to automatically identify image defects. Optionally, image defect information may also be provided by the customer or the service engineer via a user interface. Next, a diagnostic inference engine uses the results of the image quality analysis to refine the initial diagnosis. Then, the diagnostic results are output, stored, and optionally displayed to, for example a customer or a customer service engineer. Based on the diagnostic results, and if problems are found, the machine enters a repair sequence. In particular, the machine can request either a customer or a customer service engineer repair action, or, alternatively, enter an auto-correction or an auto-calibration mode to repair itself. Upon completion of one or more, or any combination, of these repair actions, the machine verifies its operation and again checks to ensure the repairs have been completed successfully.
