The incremental coupling electrode is designed such that the first electrostatic field is modulated by a change in capacitance in response to a change in the rotational position of the rotor, while the absolute value-coupling electrode is designed such that the second electrostatic field is modulated by a change in capacitance in response to an absolute rotational position of the rotor. A signal processing circuit detects the first and second modulated electrostatic field and determines a measured value for the position in response to the detected field. The at least one first and second transmitting electrode and the at least one first and second receiving electrode are coplanar to one another.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a photon detection device that is adapted to detect at least one packet of photons. The photon detection device may include a photon-sensitive element having an output, an amplifier; and a non-linear feedback (NLF) element. The photon-sensitive element generates charges upon the engagement of at least one photon packet therewith. An increase from a first number of charges in the photon-sensitive element to a second number of charges, results in a corresponding increase of a first reset time required to reset the first number of charges to a respective second reset time required to reset the second number of charges in the photon-sensitive element, whereby the reset time is non-linear to with respect to an increase in the charges. Additional and alternative embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A brake for a vehicle wheel which is mounted in such a way that it can be rotated in relation to a wheel support, the brake including a frame which is fixed to the wheel support, and additional mobile and fixed friction elements. The inventive brake also includes a device for measuring a parameter representing the energetic capacity of the brake. The measuring device includes a capacitive sensor and an information processing unit, the capacitive sensor having two measuring reinforcements mounted face-to-face and carried by the frame, and a dielectric screen carried by a friction element which can be displaced by the action of each actuator. The dielectric screen slides between the two reinforcements during the clamping of the friction elements in order to modify the capacity of the condenser formed by the two measuring reinforcements. The brake is useful in an aeroplane.

The optical fiber coupling apparatus (1) for coupling light from a light-emitting device (3) into an optical fiber (4) in an optoelectronic package comprises a microactuator (8) for positioning the end of the fiber (4) with respect to the light-emitting device (3), and a control circuit (9) in which the manipulated variable is a position of the fiber end. The control circuit (9) comprises outcoupling means (41) for coupling out of the fiber (4) a well-defined portion of the light propagating through the core of the fiber (4) and a photodetector (5) for detecting the intensity of the outcoupled light portion. The controlled variable in the control circuit (9) is the light intensity detected by the photodetector (5), from which a microprocessor (6) calculates command signals for the microactuator (8). Thus, a remote control of the optical coupling without any external intervention is achieved.

The present invention relates to an electric linear drive, particularly for a rotary-lifting motor. Such a linear drive includes a winding system including a plurality of wound coils which are arranged to be coaxial to each other and successive in axial direction, and a magnet system which is movable in axial direction relative to the winding system and includes a plurality of axially successive permanent magnets. The winding system is normally fed by a controlled converter. The coils of the winding system and the permanent magnets of the magnet system define an air gap thereinbetween. Furthermore, a sensor is provided for detecting the relative movement of winding system and magnet system and for detecting the relative position of the two systems, the sensor being used for scanning a timing ruler mounted on the outer circumference of the magnet system. The magnet system is radially arranged in the interior of the winding system, and the timing ruler circumferentially extends only over a portion of the circumference of the magnet system. According to the invention it is either provided that the coils of the winding system have a radial bulge for the timing ruler, or that the magnet system is eccentrically arranged relative to the winding system, or that the magnet system includes a radial bulge in the form of a flat portion for the timing ruler.
