摘要: Controlling access to resources through use of security objects including creating a security object in dependence upon user-selected security control data types, the security object comprising security control data and at least one security method; receiving a request for access to the resource; receiving security request data; and determining access to the resource in dependence upon the security control data and the security request data. Creating a security object includes storing in the security object a resource identification for the resource; storing in the security object an authorization level of access for the resource; storing in the security object user-selected security control data types; and storing in the security object security control data for each user-selected security control data type. Embodiments include deploying the security object on a security server or on a client device.

摘要: A method and system for storing a running image of an operating system on a removable operating system module. The module is first inserted into a first computer system. The operating system is installed on the first computer, an execution of the operating system is initiated, and a running image of the operating system is saved to the nonvolatile memory unit of the removable module. The removable module is removed from the first computer system and inserted into the second computer system where the running image of the operating system is loaded to a second memory accessible by the one or more processors included in the second computer system. The operating system is then executed by the processors. A user can update the operating system by connecting to a manufacturer's website and downloading an update or by sending the removable operating system module to the manufacturer for an update.

摘要: A method and system for providing a running image of an operating system on a removable operating system module to multiple computer systems. The removable operating system module includes a memory unit for storing the running image of the operating system. Upon insertion of the module into a computer system, a BIOS loads the operating system from the removable operating system module and initiates the execution of the operating system. In response to a request by the user, the BIOS may resume or restart the operating system. The operating system may also discover any available local and remote devices, resume any available previously running applications, and perform tasks requested by the applications and the user. In response to a user's removal request, the state of the operating system is saved on the module and the removable operating system module is removed from the computer system.

摘要: A mobile or desktop computer having a system bus that is exposed externally using a wireless transceiver so that input and output devices within proximity of the computer can be configured for immediate use. The wireless system bus of the invention provides discovery and acceptance of wireless peripheral devices within the range of the wireless transmissions. Serial or parallel communication can be supported on the same or different frequency channels. Preferably, the invention utilizes a dedicated discovery frequency for detecting the presence of peripherals in the proximity. Commands and data can be exchanged between the computer and the peripheral device in a secured manner.

摘要: A method and system of certifying that a copy of a Web page was made at a particular time by a user of a Web client. A client piece preferably includes a one-way hashing function that, when applied to a Web page copy, generates a unique string. The string is concatenated with a URL for the Web page, a timestamp and other identifying information, to generate a signature. Using a public key cryptosystem, the signature is provided to a certification server. Upon receipt, the server first determines whether the signature represents the Web page copy. If so, a confirmation is sent to the client, and the signature is stored in a database. Preferably, the Web page copy itself is not stored in the database. Signatures from other Web page copies received during a given period (e.g., the same day) are then summed and the sum is published. Later, when the user desires to verify that the Web page copy is authentic, a determination is made regarding whether application of the given function to the page generates a signature previously stored in the database and/or a value equal to the published sum for the given day. If so, the Web page copy is accepted as authentic.

摘要: One or more searchable repositories of bookmark sets are stored in a computer system, each bookmark set can be downloaded to a client browser as a unit. Each bookmark set contains a set of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and is associated with related information such as a set of keywords, one or more topics and user specific information. The bookmark set is downloadable as a unit to the client browser. When a search query from a client containing a set of keywords is received, the stored bookmark sets are searched for one or more bookmark sets associated with at least one keyword matching a keyword from the search query. A list of bookmark sets which satisfy the query, i.e. are associated with matching keywords, are returned to the client browser. Responsive to a request for downloading a selected bookmark set, the selected bookmark is served to the client. The selected bookmark set is received and used by the client browser to access the set of URLs in the selected bookmark set. In one embodiment of the invention, some bookmarks within a bookmark set are designated as base bookmarks which are always served with the bookmark set.

摘要: Bookmark sets are provided to a browser in a computer system by downloading a respective bookmark set as a unit. The process begins by creating a bookmark set at a first computer system computer system coupled to a network, the bookmark set containing a set of Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) and downloadable as a unit one or more computer systems. A request for downloading the bookmark set results in sending the bookmark set via the network to a second computer system. The bookmark set is received and used at the second computer system by a browser to access the set of URLs. The request for downloading the bookmark set can be initiated at the first computer system as a push operation or at the second computer system in a pull operation. The bookmark set can be set for automatic update; if changes are made at the first computer system, the updated bookmark set to the second computer system. The bookmark set can be incorporated in a downloaded web document. The browser parses for a tag in the web document which indicates the presence of a bookmark set in the web document and prompts for whether the incorporated bookmark set is to made available for use by the browser.

摘要: A method and system for enabling localization support on Web applications in response to an activation of a locale object is disclosed. The system updates a Web browser's localization parameters in response to dragging and dropping the locale object containing client localization information content onto the Web browser. Additionally, the Java virtual machine within the Web browser updates its locale information and reformats all its applets based on the localization information content. The Web browser then sends a locale event message and the localization information content to a server. The server updates its locale information and associated server side Java virtual machine and further uses the localization information for all the Java servlets within the server side Java virtual machine. The server then formats and delivers an HTML for display to the client based on the localization information content.
