摘要: A method for injection molding a transaction terminal case with an integral card slot formed by a knife blade in the female mold section which is supported against twisting during the molding process by a plurality of narrow buttress sections in the male mold section. The male mold section also includes a structural element in the form of a larger central buttress which contacts the knife blade of the female mold section cooperatively to form a read head window in one side of the integral card slot during the molding process. The male mold section further includes structural elements for forming a bracket mounting arrangement which is integrally formed adjacent the read head window during the injection molding process.

摘要: A reader/writer apparatus for a contact-type smart card and having a frame forming a card slot for receiving a smart card and a landing contact mechanism carried on the frame for making electrical contact with contact pads on the smart card when inserted in the card slot. The landing contact mechanism includes a connector carriage carrying a card contact set thereon facing the card slot and mounted to the frame on a pivot axis defined thereon such that the connector carriage rotates generally in a plane parallel to the card slot. A drive post formed on the connector carriage contacts a leading edge of a smart card inserted in the card slot to rotate the connector carriage through a prearranged angle as the card moves to a predetermined read position within the card slot. Cooperative screw threads on the connector carriage and the frame move the connector carriage a predetermined distance into the card slot as it rotates through the prearranged angle to thereby bring the connector carriage to a read position with the card contact set in contact with contact pads on the smart card.

摘要: A system for reading a data record stripe on a credit card which includes an injection molded case including a card guide slot integrally molded into the case near one side thereof and a read head window integrally formed in one sidewall of the card guide slot. A data read head assembly having a read head on a front face thereof is mounted in the read head window and is spring biased toward the wall of the card slot opposite the read head window. A circuit arrangement is coupled to the read head assembly for detecting data signals on a card passing through the slot and converting the data signals to a substantially square wave signal pattern representing binary signal data in the form of positive and negative signal transitions of the square wave signal. A microcomputer circuit coupled to the circuit arrangement is programmed to detect positive and negative signal transitions, to register in individual memory locations the time interval between successive signal transitions, and to reconstruct the binary signal data from the pattern of the registered time intervals.
