The actuator is operably coupled to receiving moving power from a prime mover, and includes a plurality of receptacles for corresponding contact arms of a switch within an electricity meter. Each receptacle is defined by an outer bar, an inner bar, and opposing stiffening elements. The outer bar is configured to engage a first surface of a contact arm element when the switch is in a first position, and the inner bar configured to engage a second surface of the contact arm element when the switch is in a second position.

The at least one circuit path operably couples a source of electrical energy to a load. The service switch is operably coupled to the at least one circuit path and is configurable in an open state and a closed state. The monitoring unit is operably coupled to the at least one circuit path between the load and the service switch and is configured to detect a presence and an absence of line voltage on the load. The monitoring unit is further configured (i) to generate an open circuit signal responsive to the detection of the absence of line voltage on the load, and (ii) to generate a closed circuit signal responsive to the detection of the presence of line voltage on the load.

The method also includes closing a switching element to operably couple the resistive path across the burden resistor unit, and obtaining in a processing circuit a second value representative of a voltage magnitude across the burden resistor unit. The method further includes determining in the processing circuit whether an error exists based on the first value, the second value, and at least one predetermined stored value.

    摘要: An arrangement for use in a utility meter includes a sensor and a processing circuit supported by a base of the meter, and a magnetic element carried by the cover of the meter, in which the cover is removably mounted to the base. The sensor includes at least two magnetizable elements, such as inductors, that are magnetized at opposite polarities when the meter is closed and operable. The magnetizable elements are positioned in very close proximity so that as cover is removed the magnetic element passes the elements to cause the magnetizable elements to assume the same polarity. The processing circuit continuously polls the magnetizable elements to evaluate their respective polarities and is configured to issue a tamper indication when the detected polarities are the same.

    摘要: A utility meter includes at least one primary coil, a temperature sensor, and a metrology circuit. The at least one primary coil is configured to be operably coupled to a meter socket to receive heat energy from the meter socket. The temperature sensor is operably coupled to the at least one primary coil and is configured to generate a sensor signal based on a temperature of the meter socket. The metrology circuit is operably coupled to the temperature sensor and is configured (i) to generate metering data based on a measurement of electricity consumption, and (ii) to generate a service signal in response to the sensor signal indicating that the temperature of the at least one primary coil is equal to or greater than a predetermined temperature threshold. The predetermined temperature threshold corresponds to a temperature indicative of the meter socket being due for maintenance.
