Abstract:
A method needed in speech recognition for forming a pronunciation model in a telecommunications system comprising at least one portable electronic device and server. The electronic device is arranged to compare the user's speech information with pronunciation models comprising acoustic units and stored in the electronic device. A character sequence is transferred from the electronic device to the server. In the server, the character device is converted into a sequence of acoustic units. A sequence of acoustic units is sent from the server to the electronic device.
Abstract:
A method for recognizing speech commands includes defining a time window for recognizing a speech command. A first confidence value is determined for a first recognition result. If the first confidence value is greater than or equal to a first threshold value, the first recognition result is selected as the speech command, otherwise a second recognition stage is performed where the time window is extended. A second confidence value is determined for the second recognition result. If the second confidence value is greater than or equal to the first threshold value, a command word selected at the second recognition stage is selected as the speech command, otherwise the first and second recognition results are compared to each other to determine a probability that they are substantially the same. If the probability exceeds a predetermined value, the command word selected at the second stage is selected as the speech command.
Abstract:
In the method of the invention for dialling a telephone number by voice commands, the telephone number to be dialled can be uttered either as one or as several number strings or identifications, which are recognized in order to find out which number string or identification was uttered. An incorrectly recognized number string or identification will be marked incorrect.
Abstract:
A method for controlling mobile applications by using a positioning system. In the method the allowed directions of movement are limited to predetermined directions. The method is configured to select one of the predetermined directions based on a measured direction and then a measured speed of movement is adapted to the selected direction and the mobile application is controlled accordingly.
Abstract:
A news system, user computing devices, and wireless feeder devices communicate through a network to provide on-demand news content to users of the user computing devices. The users of the user computing device's requests play an active role in guiding the generation of news content for the news system. Users may also use a miss indication button to play an active role in the on-demand news service. Furthermore, user's prior content queries are used to enhance the semantical and geographical analysis of current content queries to locate relevant content.
Abstract:
A system for interacting with a physical entity includes a user-wearable terminal and a mobile station. The user-wearable terminal is capable of automatically receiving a selection of a physical entity as at least a portion of a user wearing the terminal moves into proximity with the entity thereby moving the terminal into proximity with the entity. The terminal includes a first short-range communication element for receiving information from the entity at least partially over an air interface. In addition, the terminal includes a second short-range communication element for transferring input data to the mobile station at least partially over an air interface, where the input data is based upon the information related to the entity. The mobile station, upon receiving the input data, is capable of performing at least one action based upon the input data.
Abstract:
According to the invention, speech recognition can be limited to a smaller number making use of commands (16, 17) given by a user. By means of a method and device, according to the invention, it is also possible to activate a speech recognition device by making use, in the activation, of an existing keyboard or a touch-sensitive screen of the device. A method, according to the invention, provides the user with a logical way to activate the speech recognition device in the device simultaneously providing an improved capacity of the speech recognition device. According to the invention, it is also possible to carry out the speech recognition process by making use of commands given by the user irrespective of how the speech recognition device itself is activated. According to an embodiment of the invention, the device comprises a touch-sensitive screen or surface, in which case the information about a single letter or several letters written on the screen is transmitted to the speech recognition device, whereupon speech recognition is limited to words, wherein the letters in question occur. Speech recognition is most preferably limited to a name beginning with the letter written on the touch screen by the user.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a motion-input device for a computing device, comprising a housing; a three-axis acceleration sensor arranged in said housing for outputting inertia signals related to the orientation and the movement of the motion-input device with a three-axis compass arranged in said housing, for outputting magnetic field signals related to the magnetic field orientation of the motion-input device, wherein said motion-input device is provided with a transfer component for transferring said magnetic field signals and said inertia signals to said computing device.
Abstract:
A method for use in a speech recognition system in which a speech waveform to be modelled is represented by a set of feature extracted parameters in the time domain, the method comprising dividing individual ones of one or more of said feature extracted parameters to provide for each divided feature extracted parameter a plurality of frequency channels, and demodulating at least one of the plurality of frequency channels to provide at least one corresponding baseband frequency signal.
Abstract:
The invention includes a method and an apparatus for controlling a telephone, particularly a mobile telephone used in a cellular network. Advantageously the user interface of the telephone is voice-controlled, whereby dialling can be made without the use of hands e.g. when driving a car. In the method according to the invention, the task of a speech recognizer can be made easier using phone numbers in the phone's memory (102), ie. on the basis of a check command given by the user the phone selects the number to be recognized from among the numbers stored in its memory, whereby also an incorrect recognition can be automatically corrected.
