    摘要: A binder composition in aqueous solution, suitable for use in the production of foundry sand moulds and cores is obtained by mixing(i) an alkali silicate(ii) a substantially water soluble carbohydrate selected from monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides and derivatives thereof and(iii) a phenolic compound selected from monohydric phenols, dihydric phenols, trihydric phenols, phenols of polynuclear hydrocarbons and phenolic acids, which is miscible with or soluble in an aqueous solution of an alkali metal silicate.The composition may also contain an oxyanion such as a borate which is capable of forming a water soluble complex with the carbohydrate.A mixture of phenolic compounds, such as a mixture consisting predominantly of isomers of di- and trihydroxy diphenyl obtained in the distillation of crude resorcinol, may be used.The preferred carbohydrate is a stabilized starch hydrolysate whose reducing power has been removed by a process such as hydrogenation.

    摘要: A stopper rod having an elongate trunk with an upstream first end and a downstream second end, a continuous axial bore extending through the trunk from a stopper inlet in the upstream first end to a stopper outlet in the downstream second end, and a flow control device disposed within the bore to create a backpressure upstream thereof. The flow control device includes a body having an inlet, an outlet and a passageway therebetween, a wire positioned substantially axially in the passageway, and a retainer for maintaining the wire in the passageway. In one embodiment, the retainer is constituted by a portion of the wire itself, which is bent or crimped or configured as a loop; kink or spiral which prevents the wire from being dislodged from the passageway.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for identifying optical storage media comprising: means for capturing an image of an identification ring disposed upon an optical media disc; means for unwrapping the ring to form a flat band; means for searching of the flat band to locate a full string of symbols or characters; means for segmenting the string into individual symbols or characters; means for identifying problem symbols or characters associated with the individual symbol or character; and means for checking each individual symbol or character to determine an acceptable symbol or character and comparing the individual symbol or character to both the acceptable symbol or character and the associated problem symbol or character to determine which is a closer match. An embodiment of the apparatus for identifying optical storage media includes a computer system having a CPU, a keyboard, a display unit and a media identification module; and a camera head having a multi-spectral lighting system.

    摘要: There is provided an improvement in a grinding wheel dressing apparatus of the type presenting opposing cutting tools to the side faces of the grinding wheel. A base supports dual towers having slide blocks carrying dressing tools mounted for controlled reciprocal motion. The slide blocks are in contact with end levers pivotally mounted to the towers for controlling the slide blocks. The end levers are positioned by a screw member upon which they travel and thereby provide leveraged accurate control of the slide blocks.
