Abstract:
Compositions comprising a gel system made from a combination of a fractal network of nanoparticles and translucent macroscopic particles, titanium dioxide and other color pigments is disclosed. The compositions are capable of forming an effective film on the biological surface such as skin to blurring fine lines and wrinkles while retaining a natural look of the skin as a consequence of synergy between the fractal particles, the macroscopic particles, titanium dioxide and color pigments. Also disclosed methods for their use.

The present invention relates to compositions comprising a structured benefit agent pre-mix or delivery vehicle comprising benefit agent structured with crystalline materials, as defined, which when separately prepared and combined after preparation, provides enhanced delivery of benefit agent from a personal product bar carrying composition into which the premix is added. The use of structured benefit agent also enhances delivery of separate benefit agents in the premix (which may or may not be structured) and of separate benefit agents added separately from the premix.

The invention relates to topical compositions comprising inorganic particles coated or embedded on the surface of macroscopic particles, methods of preparing the compositions, and uses thereof. The topical composition may be delivered and applied to a surface, thereby improving the appearance of the surface. This composition can reduce the visibility of textural imperfections, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, as well as color imperfections, such as age spots and blemishes. The treatment of inorganic particles on the surface of macroscopic particles can be achieved by three methods, including mechanofusion, physical adsorption, and pre-emulsification into macroscopic particles. This invention also relates to methods of using the composition in a cosmetic or dermatological application, as well as, in an industrial application.

Described herein is a cosmetic composition comprising a mixture of volatile solvents with varying evaporation rates, wherein at least two of the volatile solvents are in combination with a film former. A single application of a cosmetic composition as described herein provides transfer resistance, long wear, and comfort and as such, may be used in lipsticks, lip glosses, mascara, hair care products, and other such cosmetics for which transfer resistance, long wear and comfort are desired properties.

A hair styling implement is comprised of a support and an extension mounted therefrom. The extension is preferably comprised of at least 75%, more preferably 90% and most preferably is comprised substantially completely of a material able to absorb water by wicking or capillary action. Cosmetic compositions comprising a fibrous pigment having an average diameter greater than 0.2 microns and an average aspect ratio greater than 5, and methods of using said compositions for imparting a pigmented film on skin or imparting a lightening appearance of skin are provided. The compositions optionally comprise from 0.1 to 30% of a coloring agent, selected from pigments, lakes, and dyes. The appearance of skin to which the compositions have been topically applied as a cosmetic film possesses L*, a*, and b* color space values and angular reflection properties closer to those of natural skin than an identical composition wherein the fibrous pigment has an average aspect ratio of less than 5.

The gel system is capable of forming an “optical gel” effective to blurrfine lines and wrinkles as a consequence of the size domain differences between the fractal particles and the macroscopic particles. Cosmetic compositions comprising such gels and methods for their use are also disclosed.
