Abstract: Methods and devices for both imaging and treating uterine fibroid tumors in one real-time system are provided. One minimally invasive method comprises introducing a sheath into a uterus and determining a location of a fibroid using a visualization element within or on the sheath. Upon identification, a portion of the sheath is steered to position at least one treatment needle at the determined location. The needle is then anchored in uterine tissue and the fibroid treated with the needle.

Abstract: A fetal and maternal monitoring system is provided, including one or more sensing devices, a central control device which receives signals from, and provides power to, the sensing devices, and a gateway device in wireless communication with the central control device for visualization of data received from the central control device and transmission of the received data to a remote location over a network. The one or more sensing devices may include a fetal heart rate monitor (FHR), a strain gauge tocodynamometer (TOCO), maternal heart rate monitor (MHR), blood pressure monitor or other wearable health or fitness sensing device which require only a basic sensor and rely upon the central control device for processing and power. Lighting elements on the sensing devices provide indications of signal detection and strength. The gateway device will also provide instructions to a user for performing tests and virtual physician visits.

Abstract: Submucosal fibroids are selectively treated by introducing a visualization and ablation instrument into a patient's uterus. Many or all of the fibroids are visualized, and the submucosal fibroids are identified. The identified submucosal fibroids are then selectively targeted, typically using a needle on the visualization and ablation instrument. In this way, the patients can be treated for menorrhagia without prolonging the time to treat intramural and subserosal fibroids which typically aren't responsible for menorrhagia.
