Abstract:
A system (and a method) is disclosed to render information of interest on a computing device. The system is configured to identify a plurality of time periods within in a database and to access a user profile. The user profile includes data on information of interest for a user. The system compares, for each time period, the user profile with that specific time period to determine the information of interest for the user within the specific time period. The system retrieves, in response to the comparison, information from at least one data source corresponding to the determined information of interest for the user within the specific time period. The system renders at a time relative to each time period a home screen on a display of the computing device, the home screen including the determined information of interest for the user within the specific time period.
Abstract:
A mobile computing device has a radio frequency transceiver and a processing circuit. The radio frequency transceiver is configured to communicate over a wireless network with a remote server. The processing circuit is configured to receive subscribed content from the remote server. The processing circuit is configured to determine a status of at least one local system resource and to determine whether to proceed with accessing the subscribed content based on the status.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the disclosure are generally directed to disabling sounding, resource-block allocation, and various full-duplex (FDX) capabilities in a portion of a spectrum used in FDX-enabled cable networks. The disclosure further describes dynamically using an upstream mode or a downstream mode of communication for half-duplex communication in the portion of the spectrum originally designated for FDX communication, for a given time interval. In another embodiment, the disclosure can thereby facilitate an increase in upstream or downstream capacity on the cable network, for example, a fifteen-fold increase in the upstream capacity or downstream capacity. In some embodiments, control messages can be transmitted from a controller node to devices on the network periodically, describing the usage of the FDX portion of the spectrum for upstream or downstream transmission. The control messages can include medium access control (MAC) management messages and/or tag-length-value (TLV) messages.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for continuously synchronizing data to and from a removable memory source connected to a user's handheld device. When the memory source is inserted into the handheld device, the device queries the memory source to determine whether the memory source is associated with the device or with an online service associated with the device. Upon determining that the memory source is associated with the device, the device exposes the memory source to the online service and allows read and write access to the online service. Upon determining that the memory source is not associated with the device, the device further checks to determine whether the user seeks to associate the memory source with the device. If the user chooses not to do so, the user is allowed to view and modify the contents of the memory source without synchronizing data to and from the online service.
Abstract:
A mobile computing device comprises a radio frequency transceiver, a memory, and processing circuit. The radio frequency transceiver is configured to communicate with wireless access points. The memory is configured to store position data representative of a position of the mobile computing device and wireless access point data for a plurality of wireless access points. The processing circuit is configured to select one of the plurality of wireless access points based on the position data and to initiate wireless communication with the selected wireless access point.

Abstract:
A system and a method are disclosed for configuring a device for receipt of data corresponding to broadcast media signal. The system and method include selecting a metadata preference for use in a search of metadata associated with the broadcast media signals and selecting a notification preference for a notification format. The selected metadata preference and the selected notification preference are transmitted to a hosting system. The device can then receive, in the selected notification format, data corresponding to a broadcast media signal, the broadcast signal corresponding to the metadata preference. In one embodiment, the broadcast media signal is an analog or digital video signal. The metadata can be in a non-video portion of the broadcast television signal, for example, a vertical blanking interval or header field.
Abstract:
Systems for performing peritoneal dialysis having an improved user interface functions and monitoring capabilities. In one respect, the systems discriminate between alarm conditions that require user intervention to correct and alarm conditions that reflect conditions that are anomalies but typically correct themselves with minimum or no user intervention. In another respect, the systems identify occluded liquid flow paths and discriminate whether the flow path is associated with a liquid source or a liquid destination.
Abstract:
Described herein include systems, methods, and apparatuses for the remote medium access control (MAC) in communication networks, for example, in cable networks. In particular, the disclosure describes a network architecture including a switch configured to communicate with remote MAC layer devices over first connections (e.g., digital fiber connections); the remote MAC layer devices configured to communicate with remote physical (PHY) layer devices over second connections (e.g., second digital fiber connections); and the remote PHY layer device configured to communicate with customer premise equipment devices over a third connection (e.g., analog coaxial connections).
