Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for generating an elastic stiffness map for a volume of an ophthalmic tissue of an eye of a patient. Exemplary systems and methods involve a laser assembly, an optical scanning assembly, an objective lens assembly, a beam control assembly, an eye camera assembly, and a Brillouin spectrometer assembly. Systems and methods can operate to transmit x,y coordinate scan control signals to the optical scanning assembly, transmit z coordinate scan control signals to the objective lens assembly, and generate the elastic stiffness map for the volume of the ophthalmic tissue of the eye based on Brillouin signals generated by a Brillouin spectrometer of the Brillouin spectrometer assembly.

Abstract: A procedure is performed on at least one section of an ocular component. At least one first electro-magnetic radiation is provided to the section so as to interact with at least one acoustic wave in the ocular component. At least one second electro-magnetic radiation is produced based on the interaction. Multiple portions of the second electromagnetic radiation are received. Each portion was emitted from a different corresponding segment of the section. A visco-elastic modulus of the section is monitored based on the multiple portions during the procedure. Feedback is applied to the procedure based at least in part on the monitored visco-elastic modulus, including at least one of: (1) guiding a trajectory of an incision based on different respective monitored values of visco-elastic modulus for the segments, or (2) determining a number of incisions to be made based on different respective monitored values of visco-elastic modulus for the segments.

Abstract: Input light comprising an optical signal associated with a spectrum of at least a portion of the input light is received into an interferometer. Data comprising an image is provided using a detector array comprising detection elements. Output light is received from the interferometer into a set of one or more optical elements, which provide an optical interference pattern associated with an intensity of at least a portion of the output light that is distributed over a set of detection elements. Detection of the optical signal is stabilized based at least in part on the data using a control system comprising: a light-control module that controls a first feedback loop that stabilizes the portion of the output light; and/or a temperature-control module that controls a second feedback loop that stabilizes a temperature sensed by at least one temperature sensor within a thermal environment associated with the interferometer.

Abstract: A method of measuring at least one biomechanical property of a reproductive cellular structure is provided. The method includes illuminating the reproductive cellular structure with radiation; detecting at least a portion of radiation scattered from the illuminated reproductive cellular structure; analyzing a frequency spectrum of the detected scattered radiation to identify at least one Brillouin frequency shift in the frequency spectrum; and determining the at least one biomechanical property based on the Brillouin frequency shift. The method further includes determining a viability index of the reproductive cellular structure based on the at least one biomechanical property.
