摘要： To provide a polymer actuator which is light in weight and capable of linear expansion and contraction with a low voltage.The polymer actuator 1 is composed of a plurality of gel/electrode complexes arranged in an electrolytic aqueous solution 6, said gel/electrode complex being composed of a polymer gel (2a, 2b) containing at least either of acidic or basic functional groups and electrodes (3a, 3b) placed in the polymer gel, said electrodes being made of a material capable of occluding and releasing hydrogen electrochemically, such that the polymer gel (2a, 2b) in the gel/electrode complex changes in pH upon application of voltage across the electrodes (3a, 3b) of the gel/electrode complexes (4a, 4b) and each of the gel/complexes changes in volume in response to the pH change.

摘要： A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material capable of being doped/undoped with lithium, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains at least one of thiols, thiophenes, thioanisoles, thiazoles, thioacetates, aromatic sulfones, and the derivatives thereof. The capacity of the battery is not significantly degraded after cycling and its cycle life is significantly long.

摘要： An index head provided with a long rack and a short rack which are slided alternatively towards an index table by the movement of a pinion of a piston rod. The long rack which is characterized to move at a speed twice a forwarding speed of the piston rod, gives to the index table a revolution corresponding to desired divisions. Immediately upon the completion of said revolution of the index table, the short rack which becomes then movable at a speed twice the forwarding speed of the piston rod, brings about, in cooperation of the rotary movement of the pinion, the engagement of the piston rod with the index table, whereby inertia given to the index table through its revolution by the long rack is prevented so as to attain accurate divisions.

摘要： A heating-type vacuum press device which has a small vacuum isolation chamber in which pressing is performed under vacuum without damage to seal packing, while heating. A lower fixed frame and an upper movement frame constitute a wall portion of the isolation chamber. A gas-tight sliding mechanism ensures gas-tightness between the lower fixed frame and the upper movement frame. Thereby, the isolation chamber is formed in a space defined by the lower fixed frame, the upper movement frame, a base and a fitting plate. The lower fixed frame surrounds a receiving table equipped with a heater for a workpiece, and is arranged on the base such that the lower fixed frame is spaced from the receiving table. The upper movement frame is hanged from the fitting plate such that the upper movement frame is spaced from a pressing plate equipped with a heater, and surrounds the pressing plate. The isolation chamber is sucked to vacuum, and a workpiece on the receiving plate is pressed under heating and vacuum at a high temperature with a low thrusting force by descending the pressing plate. The present apparatus is suitable for bonding multi-functional laminated films having high heat-resistant temperature.

摘要： The Rh content by percentage in an HC absorbent catalytic converter provided in an exhaust pipe is greater than the Rh content by percentage in an upstream three-way catalyst. In this way, even when HC which has been temporarily absorbed is emitted in an atmosphere and the exhaust gas becomes rich, the HC absorbent catalytic converter displays improved oxidization and removal of HC due to the high content by percentage of Rh which has a high HC conversion ratio in rich atmospheres. There is no necessity to control the air-fuel ratio to a strongly lean ratio and so HC removal can be improved while maintaining suppression of NOx emissions.
