Abstract:
An apparatus and method for operating a paging control in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The method includes receiving paging information used to determine a location of a paging listening interval in an idle mode, determining whether multiple pagings are applied, using a maximum paging number field contained in the paging information, determining locations of a plurality of paging listening intervals in a paging cycle using a paging spacing value and an initial paging offset contained in the paging information, and determining whether the terminal is paged in each of the paging listening intervals.
Abstract:
An apparatus is capable of transmitting information via an uplink control channel in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) communication system. Uplink control information is encoded to obtain a predetermined bit string. A signal sequence corresponding to the predetermined bit string is generated. The signal sequence is cyclic-shifted according to a predetermined rule. The cyclic-shifted signal sequence is controlled according to a subframe length. Therefore, reception performance deterioration of an uplink control channel allocated to an irregular subframe can be minimized.

A method of operating a Base Station (BS) includes configuring a bitmap to indicate whether radio resources are allocated to respective Access Terminals (ATs) according to resource scheduling, generating a resource allocation message including the configured bitmap and at least one of bit allocation information of the bitmap and bit deallocation information of the bitmap, and transmitting the resource allocation message.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for composing a subchannel in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes performing a subband-based permutation on resources for composing a subchannel; selecting one or more subbands as resources for a band selection subchannel from the resources passing through the subband-based permutation; composing the band selection subchannel using at least one of the selected subbands; performing a resource allocation unit based permutation on resources not selected for the band selection subchannel; composing a resource allocation unit based diversity subchannel using subband remained in the selected subbands after the band selection subchannel is composed and at least one of the resource allocation units of the resources passing through the resource allocation unit based permutation; and composing a tone-based diversity subchannel by performing a tone-based permutation on resources remained after the resource allocation unit based diversity subchannel is composed.

An apparatus and method for supporting Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. A method of performing HARQ by a Mobile Station (MS) in a wireless communication system includes receiving a control message including resource allocation information, decoding the control message, if the decoding is successful, determining whether a previous control message is lost, and if the previous control message is lost, transmitting one of a null signal and a specific indicator through a response channel.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for removing an echo signal in a signal transmission/reception apparatus of a communication system is provided. A signal transmission/reception apparatus estimates an input channel response using a training sequence, generates a first signal by removing the input channel response from a first reception signal, detects an echo channel impulse response using the first signal, detects an echo signal removing coefficient using the echo channel impulse response, generates a second signal in which an echo signal is removed by applying the echo signal removing coefficient to a second reception signal, and removes the second signal from a third signal, wherein the first signal is received prior to receiving the second signal and the second signal is received prior to receiving the third signal.
Abstract:
A method, an Advanced Base Station (ABS) and an Advanced Mobile Station (AMS) for transmitting Location Based Service (LBS) resource allocation information by an ABS in a mobile communication system are provided. The ABS transmits LBS resource allocation information including LBS zone configuration information representing an LBS zone transmission period. The LBS zone configuration information includes at least one of first information indicating that LBS zone transmission is switched off, second information indicating that the LBS zone transmission period corresponds to a first number of super frames, third information indicating that the LBS zone transmission period corresponds to a second number of super frames, and fourth information indicating that the LBS zone transmission period corresponds to a third number of super frames.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus are provided for estimating and removing interference of a signal at a wireless repeater operating in a multi-carrier system. In the method, a current echo channel linear prediction coefficient, which represents a coefficient between a current train signal section and a previous train signal section, is estimated using a current echo channel coefficient estimated in the current train signal section and a previous echo channel coefficient generated in the previous train signal section. A next echo channel coefficient is estimated using the current echo channel coefficient, the previous echo channel coefficient, and the current echo channel linear prediction coefficient. An echo channel coefficient outside a train signal section is estimated using the current echo channel coefficient and the next echo channel coefficient.
