Abstract:
An unobtrusive on-grade barrier is provided. One embodiment comprises a concrete-lined trench over which a biased hinged plate is affixed to an end wall of the trench. The biased hinge holds the free end of the plate against a tab affixed to the other end wall, assuring the plate does not rise above grade. The plate is supported for vehicle passage by a sliding mechanism energized by an actuator controlled by a controller that may be automated or operated by security personnel. The barrier may be configured so that vehicles may approach from either end. Upon authorizing access to the driver, the vehicle is permitted to pass over the supported plate. If the driver is not authorized access, the support is slid out of the way and any vehicle attempting to pass slides into the trench. Means for clearing the trench of a trapped vehicle are provided in select embodiments.
Abstract:
This invention relates to composite materials for restorative dentistry. More particularly, it relates to new components for dental composites, which impart an attractive combination of good mechanical properties and low shrinkage.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a dental composite material wherein core-shell polymer compounds are utilized to reduce shrinkage upon polymerization; the invention also relates to a method for producing dental restoration articles with reduced shrinkage; the invention also relates to various dental restorative articles comprising the aforementioned core-shell polymer compounds.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present invention are directed generally toward a graft for use with a blood flow device that allows the use of a single blood flow device to simultaneously provide blood flow to the systemic and pulmonary circulations. One aspect of the invention is directed toward a graft comprising a tubular inlet portion coupleable to the outlet of the blood-flow assist device and configured to receive a flow of blood therethrough. The graft has a tubular systemic portion connected the inlet portion and configured to be connected to the systemic circulation of the patient to direct the first portion of the blood flow into the systemic circulation at a first flow rate. The graft has a tubular pulmonary portion connected to the inlet portion and configured to be connected to the pulmonary circulation of the patient to direct a second portion of the blood flow into the pulmonary circulation substantially simultaneous with delivery of the first portion of the blood flow into the systemic circulation.

Abstract:
A self-etching primer composition and method for etching and treating a tooth surface prior to restoration. The self-etching primer composition contains DOPA. In practice, the composition is applied to the tooth surface and not subsequently washed prior to application of an adhesive or other restorative material.
Abstract:
A dispenser includes a housing, an aperture within the housing, a receptacle within the housing, and a pneumatically driven actuator. The receptacle removably receives a reservoir, such that when the reservoir is received by the receptacle, an outlet port of the reservoir is exposed through the aperture. When the pneumatically driven actuator is actuated, the pneumatically driven actuator provides a dispensing force that induces a flow of a predetermined volume of fluid within the reservoir through the exposed outlet port of the reservoir and dispenses the predetermined volume through the aperture. In some embodiments, the dispenser includes an internal pneumatic source. The internal pneumatic source may include an air compressor. The dispenser may include a pneumatic input port that receives a pneumatic hose. The dispensing force translates a piston in the reservoir a predetermined distance. The predetermined distance may be linearly proportional to the predetermined volume of dispensed fluid.
