The processes can employ lixiviants that include at most only small amounts of copper and/or ammonia and operate at a relatively low pH, reduction of polythionates, inert atmospheres to control polythionate production, and electrolytic solutions which provide relatively high rates of precious metal recovery.

摘要: Bone void filler pieces that are conducive to packing or nesting when a plurality of pieces are located in a cavity in random orientation. The bone void filler of the present invention includes a higher bulk packing density and a porosity of less than 80% to provide a better match native bone ingrowth rate. Further, the bone void filler includes a bi-modal pore distribution with a high frequency of smaller pores to enhance the density characteristic of the bone void filler pieces. A method of manufacturing the bone void filler pieces includes a precursor powder composition suitable to form a ceramic matrix; the preform is converted by chemical reaction to a final composition. The preform further includes the use of a porogen that decomposes to gaseous decomposition products upon heating.

摘要: A microwave-resistant and waterproof security tag for use with food products, especially meat products. The security tag includes a pair of single, open loop conductive traces in between which is disposed a similarly-shaped dielectric layer. This combination is encapsulated within plastic membranes or covers that are sealed at their common edges. The preferred embodiment includes rectangularly-shaped single, open loop conductive traces with rounded corners and with one end of each trace forming a capacitor plate. The width of each trace is at least 1/10 of the length of the security tag.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process for producing glucosinolates, particularly glucoraphanin, from cruciferous plants. More particularly, a method is provided for producing glucosinolates from agricultural by-products and waste. The general method comprises providing a mixture of glucosinolate-containing plant material and liquid, heating the mixture to inactivate enzymes in the plant material, contacting the heat inactivated mixture with an anion exchange membrane whereby at least a portion of the glucosinolates are extracted from the liquid and absorbed onto the anion exchange membrane, and releasing the glucosinolates from the anion exchange membrane. Preferably, the extraction and release steps are repeated at least once. The glucosinolates produce by the method of the invention may be incorporated into a variety of food products, pharmaceuticals, and health supplements.
