摘要： A guitar slide or other musical instrument string-contacting component has a core that consists essentially of a metal composition which is susceptible to the formation of nitrides and carbides of the metal composition upon proper exposure to carbon and nitrogen. A diffusion layer circumscribes the core and consists essentially of nitrides and carbides of the metal composition. A compound layer circumscribes the diffusion layer and consists essentially of the metal composition, nitrogen, and oxygen. In one physical embodiment, the guitar slide includes a generally tubular body having a conical outer surface tapering downward from a first open finger receiving end to a second smaller end. The outer surface and the inner surface are both preferably conical. In another physical embodiment, the guitar slide is provided with a domed end.

摘要： Portable apparatus for drying wet footballs. The apparatus comprises a housing supported on wheels and including a drying chamber for receipt of a wet football therein. The drying chamber includes a pair of concave contoured moisture absorbent rollers. The rollers are disposed parallel to one another and spaced apart by sufficient distance that a football can be placed within the space between the rollers and supported thereon. A motor is coupled through pulley means to effect the rotation of the rollers in the same direction but at different speeds. The frictional engagement between one of the rollers and the ball causes the ball to rotate at a different speed than the speed of rotation of the other rollers to effect the rubbing action between the ball and the other roller thereby wiping the surface of the ball. A spring biased hold down roller is provided to hold the ball in place during the rotation thereof by the first and second rollers. Ball ejection means are provided for removing the ball from the rotating rollers. A blower is provided to blow air across the ball as it is rotated. The housing is closed and the air therein recirculated through dessicating means and back to the roller for reuse. A sealed beam lamp is disposed over the space between the rollers so as to provide gentle heat for effecting the heating of the ball as it is being rotated to thereby further effectuate drying of the ball. Power is provided to the blower and the motor by a battery mounted within the housing.

摘要： A speaker stand has a base, an upright, and one or more quick release speaker couplers. The base has a plurality of arms, anchors, and optional removable stability plates. The upright has a lower vertical riser defining a first vertical riser longitudinal axis, an upper vertical riser parallel with and axially offset from the first vertical riser longitudinal axis, and an angled intermediate riser connecting the lower and upper vertical risers together. The quick release speaker coupler suspends a loudspeaker enclosure bracket to the upper vertical riser even when not clamped thereto, while providing three displaced axes of rotation for the loudspeaker enclosure, two that are parallel to the lower vertical riser longitudinal axis and one angularly offset thereto, and at least one axis of reciprocation. The radial offset of the loudspeaker from the upper vertical riser centers the mass of the loudspeaker enclosure with the base.

摘要： A boom stand adapted to support an electroacoustic device is constructed from a base, pivotal boom, stand elevating the pivotal boom, and a stacking counterweight. The stacking counterweight includes a terminal weight having a generally cylindrical body longitudinally terminated with a threaded coupler adapted to operatively couple with a threaded coupler on the boom, while aligning the terminal weight longitudinally co-axially with the boom. One or more medial weights having a generally cylindrical body and appropriate threaded couplers can be inserted between the boom and terminal weight. Each of the medial and terminal weights are preferably shaped to be adequately grasped by a person's palm and finger portion of a hand clasping about the longitudinal axis, and are thereby adapted to operatively permit manual rotation about their longitudinal axes.

摘要： A folding base has a hinge body, and a stand emanates vertically from adjacent a center of the hinge body. A plurality of legs radiate from the hinge body and provide ground contact. Between and pivotally coupling each leg to the hinge body is one of a plurality of torque hinges, so that individual ones of the legs are rotationally coupled to the hinge body through a torque generating member. Preferably the torque required to pivot a leg with respect to the hinge body is greater than that generated solely by lifting a leg from the ground or supporting surface. The torque hinge may also be knurled to permit a secure and permanent press fit to the associated leg and the hinge body.
