摘要: A brace worn by a user has side shell portions disposed in or on the lateral and medial sides portions of the brace to support the medial and lateral sides of the user's ankle. The shell may include a connecting center portion that extends under the foot of the user and couples the medial and lateral side shell portions. In certain embodiments, the connecting portion includes a plurality of flexible fingers oriented substantially towards the user's toes for yielding to the movement of the user's foot while maintaining the stability and orientation of the lateral and medial supports with respect to the user's ankle.

摘要: The systems and methods described herein, include, among other things, orthopedic appliances and methods of applying therapy to limb of a patient for the purpose of reducing edema. In one aspect, the invention provides a therapy system that may be fitted over a patient's limb about a joint for the purposes of treating limb injury by reducing or milking edema. In other aspects, the invention provides for systems and methods that may be adapted to provide intermittent massaging of lymph fluid through the lymphatic vessels in a direction toward the heart, which is toward the center of a patient's torso and away from the patient's affected limb.

摘要: Braces are disclosed that are capable of stabilizing an injured limb, particularly an injured wrist. An exemplary brace fits across the injury in contact with the user's hand or foot and, in certain embodiments, in contact with the thumb and/or fingers or toes. The brace typically contains an adjustable casing and in some embodiments a removable support connecting one portion of the user's arm to another. The brace also includes compressible material such as an air cell. Systems and method for use and manufacture of the braces are also contemplated.

摘要: A hydrokinetic torque converter includes an impeller cover and a bypass clutch. A drive ring is located between adjacent surfaces of the cover and a clutch piston, which deflects flexurally axially. The piston is welded to the cover at a radially inner position, which is supported at another radial location on the cover. The piston deflects into engagement with the drive ring, and the drive ring engages with the cover. When clutch apply pressure is reduced, energy, in the form of elastic bending potential energy stored in the piston, is used to move the piston out of engagement with the drive ring and cover.
