摘要: A device and a method for reducing power consumption and correspondingly reducing lumen output of a phosphor excitable lamp, such as a fluorescent lamp, connected to a source of power for operation of the same, without any appreciable loss of operating efficiency. A capacitive element is electrically connectable to one terminal of the phosphor excitable lamp and is effectively electrically interposed between the lamp and the source of power in a series connection. The capacitive element is selected with a capacitive value so that the lumen output is reduced but with substantially uniform lumen output at the reduced level and the power consumption is reduced without substantially changing the voltage to the lamp and without any appreciable effects on the efficiency of operation of the lamp or the source of power. More specifically, the capacitive element is interposed between the conductive terminal of a socket in a fixture and the end terminal of a lamp such that a circuit path is not created directly between the conductive terminal of the socket and the end terminal of the lamp, but rather through the capacitive element to thereby reduce the power consumption and lumen output.

摘要: A lamp switching circuit and method for selectively energizing one or more lamps of a bank of lamps and thereafter energizing other of the lamps when power is interrupted and next applied. The lamp switching circuit and method is also effective in selectively and sequentially operating one or more ballasts in a group of ballasts which, in turn, operate one or more lamps in a circuit arrangement. The lamps with which the present invention is used are typically phosphor excitable lamps, such as flourescent lamps. In this way, power consumption is reduced, even through lumen output is correspondingly reduced. However, by selectively and sequentially energizing only certain of the lamps in a circuit arrangement, the overall life of the lamps is materially increased. Moreover, the lamps will operate with the same degree of efficiency as they would operate if all lamps connected to a ballast were operating.

摘要: An improvement for use in image projection systems of the type which project an image from a substrate where a projector causes the image to be displayed on a receiving member such as a projection screen remote from the projector. One important facet of the improvement resides in the receiving member, i.e., the projection screen. These systems are typically used for displaying scores in bowling games from a projector at the player end to a screen or receiving member at the scoring end. Projectors of this type normally comprise a projector base with a mirror system and a socket which has a light source therein located in relation to the mirror system. The improvement comprises a bracket which is replaceable for the original socket and light source therein. The bracket includes a plate having an improved light socket mounted on the plate. In addition, the bracket includes mounting means having apertures to receive conventional fasteners. These apertures are located in a positional relationship with apertures which received conventional fasteners for mounting the original socket. The improvement light source is capable of being inserted into the improvement socket and contains a filament which is located in relationship to the mirror in a manner similar to the relationship of the filament in the original light source. In addition, the improvement light source does not necessitate the use of an opaque portion which was employed in the original light source, but may utilize a light shield in order to mask direct light. An improved receiving member, e.g. the projection screen, is also utilized in place of the original receiving member. The improved receiving member is uniquely constructed so that it recaptures the projected image with a clarity and brightness which is not otherwise obtainable without the use of expensive beaded screens and the like. The improved light source generates light based on a power output of less than one-half of the power input of the original light source, but enables projection of the image to the improved receiving member with substantially the same degree of brightness.

摘要: A one-piece housing holds an image sensing module having a transparent image sensing surface and a document drive roller in close alignment. A cover closely fits around the housing and is positioned in close alignment with respect to the housing. The cover and housing cooperate to define a document entry path in which a plurality of sensors are located: a set of document-skew-detecting sensors and a set of document-insertion-detecting sensors, the sets of sensors acting independently of each other. The number and spacing of the sensors is the set of document-insertion-detecting sensors is such that the narrowest expected document encounters at least one such sensor. The cover and housing also cooperated to define a document scanning path and one or more document exit paths. The cover includes a movable member adjustable by a user to either one of two positions, the member cooperating with the cover and housing to define a first document exit path directing documents toward the user and a second document exit path directing documents away from the user. The cover includes a plurality of cover portions, the cover portions interlocking to accurately position the cover portions with respect to each other and the housing.

摘要: A method for determining an actuation delay time for an electromechanical relay includes capturing a current waveform of an energized coil, determining a time at which the actuation component begins to move by analyzing the captured current waveform, and calculating the actuation delay time for the relay based on the time at which the actuation component begins to move. A method for determining a state of a latching relay includes energizing the coil of the latching relay, capturing a current waveform of the energized coil, and determining the state of the relay by analyzing the captured current waveform.

摘要: A method of displaying a time sequence of 2-dimensional data represents each data set in the time sequence as a normalized figure based upon a reference set of data. The perimeter of the normalized figure is color coded to represent deviations from a data standard that corresponds to the 2-dimensional data. For subsequent data sets in the time sequence each normalized figure is sized to form a series of concentric figures for display representing all the data sets in the time sequence so that patterns of both rotational and magnitude changes are visually apparent.
