摘要： A method for viewing an attachment of an email message on a portable electronic device in which the attachment has a renderable format. The method includes: requesting to view the attachment in an attachment viewer of the device, building a graph structure within an attachment server representing a map of the attachment, the graph structure including at least one renderable identifier corresponding to a page of the attachment, requesting rendering of the attachment, the rendering request sent from the attachment viewer to the attachment server and including the at least one renderable identifier, initializing a rendering library and storing rendering commands corresponding to command types of the graph structure in the rendering library, drawing the rendering commands in an off-screen bitmap which is saved as a JPEG file, sending the JPEG file to the portable electronic device and displaying the JPEG file in the attachment viewer.

摘要： Systems and methods of retrieving and presenting partial (skipped) document content are provided. A typical system includes a document parsing stage, a device request for content stage and a delivery of requested content stage. A target device can include a device presentation of the requested content stage. The system parses the content of an electronic document and generates a document object model (DOM) representation of the electronic document, where each source and destination target is assigned a document object model identifier (DOM ID). In some instances, upon completion of parsing, the document object model is then paginated in computer memory into segments of a certain size called chunks; in such instances the pagination operation can update each DOM ID with an additional information attribute containing the chunk index with the purpose of establishing a relationship between a document object model identifier and the corresponding chunk index. Thus, when a device requests specific content corresponding to the DOM ID the chunk index value indicates the correct chunk to be returned to the device. The device initiates a document viewing experience by requesting, parsing and displaying an initial chunk of document content as delivered by the corresponding server. The device can, upon parsing the data chunk, record navigational information provided in the form of link information containing corresponding DOM ID and Chunk Index information. The link information can in certain instances be presented visually by a dotted underline.

摘要： A method for downloading an attachment to a portable electronic device's attachment viewer includes: sending an initial request from the attachment viewer to a server in response to receiving an email including the attachment by the device; from the server, accessing a graph structure representing a map of the attachment previously built on the server; reconstructing the graph structure in response to the request and encapsulating the graph structure in data having an attachment viewer readable format; (i) downloading successive chunks of the data from the server to the attachment viewer responsive to successive requests; (ii) storing each of the successive chunks on the device prior to display thereof; (iii) displaying the successive chunks on the device and automatically downloading respective next chunks of the data from the server; and (iv) while chunks remain to be downloaded from the server performing (i) to (iii).

If no occurrences of the term are found on the device, the device then prompts the user to initiate a server side search. If the user accepts, then the server searches the document attachment and returns the first section of text that contains the search term to the device for viewing by the user. This process can then be repeated until the server find feature reports that no further instances of the search string have been found on the server.

摘要： Displaying slide presentations in a user interface (UI) on a display screen is enhanced by providing multiple display modes in a slide presentation viewer. A text mode shows text information distilled from the slides. A preview mode shows thumbnail slide images rendered from the slides and a mixed mode shows text information and thumbnails together. The UI further provides a slide show to display the slide images in full screen and an interface (e.g. menu) for selecting among the modes and invoking the slide show. For wireless devices in particular, a network server may process slide presentation documents to generate the text information and slide images for communicating to the wireless devices having slide presentation viewers. The network server may be an attachment server providing services for email attachments and the slide presentation viewers may be attachment viewers.
