Abstract:
A wind turbine has a Lidar device to sense wind conditions upstream of the wind turbine. Wind speed signals from the wind turbine are processed to detect an extreme operating gust. The detection is performed by differentiating the axial wind velocity and filtering for a period of time. On detection of extreme operating gust the system controller takes necessary evasive action which may include shutting down the turbine or varying the blade pitch angle.
Abstract:
An increase in information available to a user of computing technologies has a tendency to increase the number of topics that are similarly related. Given the large amount of information that is now available, it is increasingly likely that a first set of search results generated in response to an initial search query will contain information that is not of interest to the user. What is needed in the art is a technique to enable a search query to be conducted by taking advantage of linguistic feedback. Furthermore, what is needed is a technique to enable the presentation of search results to be refined in a manner based on what is not of interest to a user, either intrinsically or because the user has already seen and evaluated certain information and next wants to see more or different information.
Abstract:
A system and method of calculating fuel gasifier reactions is disclosed. The method and system model combustion/gasification within a gasifier by using an Eulerian-Eulerian flow field. The flow field is updated as the combustion/gasification progresses to account for the use of fuel as well as other reactions, mass transferred, and heat that occur within the gasifier during the combustion/gasification reactions.
Abstract:
Compounds of formula (I) are disclosed. Compounds according to the invention bind to and are agonists, antagonists or inverse agonists of the CB2 receptor, and are useful for treating inflammation. Those compounds which are agonists are additionally useful for treating pain.
Abstract:
A method for preparing an organic pigment dispersion, such as a flush pigment or ink product, comprises steps of introducing into a twin screw extruder a stable, water-borne pigment dispersion, an organic medium, and a destabilizing agent; mixing together the stable, water-borne pigment dispersion, the organic medium, and the destabilizing agent to produce a pigment flush phase and a water phase; and removing at least a part of the water phase. A twin-screw extruder for carrying out the flushing method has an addition and flushing zone, a water removal zone, and a zone for rinsing the crude organic pigment dispersion or flush with water and removing the rinse water. Additional materials may be added to form a finished pigmented product such as an ink product, masterbatch, or toner.
Abstract:
A ticket transport machine accepts fare media cards of various types and dimensions through an input bezel. The card is then fed through entry rollers where it is transported onto a rotating transport carrier and passed under a reader/writer antenna. The reader/writer antenna reads information encoded onto the card and based upon this information, the machine determines if the card can be re-circulated for later use. The card is then deposited into a storage stacker magazine where it can be retrieved at a later date for reissue to another user.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of an enantioenriched sulfone of formula (1), which comprises asymmetric hydrogenation of vinyl sulfone of formula (2) wherein R1 and R2 are each independently a hydrocarbon group of less than 20 carbons atoms, optionally substituted at any position, or either of R1 and R3 is H, and X is a coordinating group, in the presence of a stereoselective chiral catalyst.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and apparatus for determining a property of wind approaching a wind turbine. A light detection and ranging equipment may emit pulsed radiation into oncoming wind to detect properties of the wind at a plurality of predefined locations. A property of the wind approaching the wind turbine may be determined based on the property of wind measured at at least two predefined locations.
