Abstract:
A device for introducing an embolic coil into a catheter comprises an elongated body defining a longitudinal passage extending therethrough from a first opening at a proximal end thereof to a second opening at a distal end thereof, the elongated body being including a mating portion for conforming to a size and shape of an opening in a hub of a catheter to mate therewith and an embolic coil introducer sheath including a coil receiving lumen extending therethrough, a distal tip of the introducer sheath being dimensioned to be received within a proximal end of the longitudinal passage. Similarly, a method of implanting an embolic coil, comprises inserting a stabilizer into a catheter hub so that a flexible mating portion substantially conforms to a shape of an inner surface of the hub wherein the stabilizer includes a passage extending therethrough from a proximal opening to a distal opening thereof. An introducer sheath including an embolic coil received in a lumen thereof is inserted into the proximal opening of the passage and through the passage to exit the distal opening thereof so that a distal opening of the lumen is positioned substantially adjacent to a proximal opening of a catheter and an embolic coil is advanced out of the distal opening of the lumen into the catheter and deployed in the body through the catheter.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a snare and an actuator. The snare is formed of a material having an opacity complementary to a predetermined imaging system that is positionable external to a patient. The actuator is configured to steer the snare in response to an image of at least a portion of a colon of the patient. The image is generated by the predetermined imaging system.
Abstract:
The present invention includes an introducer sheath. The sheath may comprise a first proximal elongated section having a first outer diameter and a first inner diameter, and a main body elongated section having a second inner diameter and a second outer diameter, wherein the second outer diameter is larger than the first outer diameter. The sheath may further include a distal section having an outer wall that tapers from the second outer diameter of the main body elongated section to a smaller distal outer diameter.
Abstract:
A device for providing fluid to an organ within a living body comprises an elongate member including a distal portion configured for insertion to a target location within a living body. The elongate member includes a withdrawal lumen extending from an outlet in a proximal end thereof to an inlet at a distal end of the elongate member, the inlet opening into a target organ when the distal portion of the elongate member is in the target location. The elongate member further includes an infusion lumen extending from an inlet in the proximal end thereof to an outlet which, when the distal portion of the elongate member is in the target location, opens into the target organ. A first portion of a wall separating the withdrawal lumen from the infusion lumen is configured to move between an expanded configuration and a collapsed configuration in which the cross-sectional area of a first portion of the infusion lumen adjacent to the first portion of the wall is reduced as compared to the expanded configuration so that a cross-sectional area of a first portion of the withdrawal lumen adjacent to the first portion of the wall is greater when the first portion of the wall is in the collapsed configuration than when the first portion of the wall is in the expanded configuration.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention includes inserting into a gastrointestinal lumen, a catheter having a first balloon and a second balloon spaced from the first balloon. The first balloon and the second balloon are inflated to sealingly engage the lumen. A liquid is introduced into a volume bounded by the first balloon, the second balloon and the lumen so that the liquid contacts at least a portion of the lumen.
Abstract:
Coil assemblies and related components and methods are disclosed. The coil assemblies can include two or more embolic coils having one or more different coil parameters.
