    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes one or more unopposed cylinder units where each cylinder unit drives the crankshaft via a yoke assembly rather than a conventional connecting rod. The yoke assembly is formed by a connecting rod assembly that can have an upper portion having a connecting member connected to the piston, and a lower portion. The connecting rod assembly moves exclusively along the bore axis of the cylinder, with no side to side motion. The connecting rod assembly also defines a transverse slot in the yoke portion in which a connecting rod bearing housing reciprocates with motion of a connecting rod journal on the crankshaft within the transverse slot. Since the motion of the connecting rod is linear, and the connecting rod bearing housing moves circularly, there are no secondary forces resulting in an inline engine using the unopposed cylinder unit configuration.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine using a two stroke cycle includes a pair of opposing cylinder units, each of which are located on opposing sides of a crankcase. In each cylinder unit is a cylinder with a piston disposed in the cylinder. Each piston is coupled to a piston rod that is aligned along an axis that passes through the center of each cylinder bore. The piston rods pass through the crankcase wall into the crankcase chamber, and are further coupled to a yoke. Each cylinder unit has an intake channel from the crankcase chamber to a cylinder intake port in the cylinder. As the piston traverses its upstroke in its cylinder, it creates a vacuum under the piston. At the top of its stroke a piston intake port becomes aligned with the cylinder intake port, allow fuel to be drawn into the cylinder under the piston. As a result, a continuous vacuum is experienced in the crankcase without the need for mechanical valving arrangements.

    摘要: A quantity of solid fuel is attached to the inside of the combustion chamber of the turbine. When the engine begins a starting sequence, a starter begins spinning the compressor and an air flow is pumped through the engine. The solid fuel is then heated by a heater element until the solid fuel begins to burn. The combustion of the solid fuel increases the temperature of the combustion chamber so that when, thereafter, an atomized or vaporized liquid fuel is injected, the temperature within the combustion chamber is sufficient to allow the liquid fuel to burn in a self-sustaining manner.
