摘要: Techniques are described for discriminating SVT and, in particular, rapidly conducting AF. The techniques include detecting an onset of a fast rate of ventricular events sensed from a cardiac electrical signal and detecting a pause in the fast rate of ventricular sensed events. A threshold number of ventricular event intervals required to detect a ventricular tachyarrhythmia is detected with each of the threshold number of ventricular event intervals being less than a tachyarrhythmia detection interval. Detection of the ventricular tachyarrhythmia and an electrical stimulation therapy for treating the ventricular tachyarrhythmia are withheld in response to at least the pause being detected.

摘要: A medical device and method conserve electrical power used in monitoring cardiac arrhythmias. The device includes a sensing circuit configured to sense a cardiac signal, a power source and a control circuit having a processor powered by the power source. The control circuit is configured to operate in a normal state by waking up the processor to analyze the cardiac electrical signal for determining a state of an arrhythmia. The control circuit switches from the normal state to a power saving state that includes waking up the processor at a lower rate than during the normal state.

摘要: Various embodiments concern identifying a biomarker in the presence of electrical stimulation. Various embodiments concern delivering electrical stimulation to a patient and sensing one or more signals while the electrical stimulation is being delivered, the one or more signals including data indicative of physiological activity. Various embodiments further include determining an intensity of the electrical stimulation and determining whether the data indicates the presence of a biomarker based on a variable threshold, the variable threshold being variable based on the intensity of the electrical stimulation. Various embodiments concern determining a relationship between stimulation intensity and a biomarker parameter to determine the variability of the variable threshold.

摘要: Various embodiments concern sensing a LFP signal from one or more electrodes, measuring the amplitude of the signals over a period of time, and calculating a plurality of variance values from the amplitude, wherein each of the variance values correspond to the variance of the amplitude for a different interval of time of the period of time with respect to the other variance values. Such embodiments may further include assessing the relative level of neural activation of an area of the brain based on the variance values, wherein the area of the brain is assessed to have a relatively higher level of neural activation when the variance is relatively higher and the area of the brain is assessed to have a relatively lower level of neural activation when the variance is relatively lower.

摘要: Various embodiments concern delivering electrical stimulation to the brain at a plurality of different levels of a stimulation parameter and sensing a bioelectrical response of the brain to delivery of the electrical stimulation for each of the plurality of different levels of the stimulation parameter. A suppression window of the stimulation parameter can be identified as having a suppression threshold as a lower boundary and an after-discharge threshold as an upper boundary based on the sensed bioelectrical responses. A therapy level of the stimulation parameter can be set for therapy delivery based on the suppression window. The therapy level of the stimulation parameter may be set closer to the suppression threshold than the after-discharge threshold within the suppression window. Data for hippocampal stimulation demonstrating a suppression window is presented.

摘要: In general, the invention is directed to systems and methods for monitoring the gastrointestinal system of a patient. In one embodiment, the invention includes techniques for monitoring the emptying of the patient's stomach. The techniques may employ glucose monitoring, pH monitoring with a consumable sensor, of monitoring the position of a consumable sensor as it exits the stomach. Consumable sensors may be employed to sense conditions, such as temperature or bile concentration, in other segments of the gastrointestinal system. The invention also includes systems for tracking the position of one or more consumable sensors as the sensors transit the gastrointestinal system, and monitoring the conditions sensed by the sensors.

摘要: An actuator for an infusion drive mechanism comprises a piston defining a first axis and being movable within a passageway of the infusion drive mechanism to convey at least one infusion medium. The passageway defines a longitudinal axis. An armature is connected to the piston and defines at least one cavity configured for disposal of a biasing member engageable with a surface of the infusion drive mechanism to orient the first axis transverse relative to the longitudinal axis. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

摘要: In some examples, systems, devices, and techniques for determining a particular sleep stage of a patient, determining a seizure state of the patient during the particular sleep stage, and generating a seizure probability metric for the particular sleep stage based on the sleep stage and seizure state are described. In some cases, a patient may be more susceptible to seizure events during particular sleep stages. One or more seizure probability metrics indicative of a patient's susceptibility to seizure events during a particular sleep stage may be useful in creating a patient-specific treatment regimen.
