Abstract: An authentication method for authenticating an electronic ticket stored in a portable information device by an authentication apparatus, including a step of acquiring, by the portable information device, shared information that is sharable with the authentication apparatus when authentication of the electronic ticket is performed, a step of generating, by the portable information device, a bar code based on the acquired shared information and the electronic ticket, a step of displaying the bar code by the portable information device, a step of reading, by the authentication apparatus, the electronic ticket and the shared information from the bar code displayed on the portable information device, and a step of performing, by the authentication apparatus, the authentication of the electronic ticket by making a comparison between contents of the shared information read from the bar code together with the electronic ticket and shared information in the authentication apparatus.

Abstract: One or more Bluetooth® low energy (BLE) beacons in communication with a remote server that provides check in capabilities and payment capabilities may be installed at a location. The BLE beacons may connect with a user's mobile device when the user enters the location and allow the user to check in to the location and authorize payments to be made at the location. Once the user is checked in to the location, the user may be provided with additional functionality, benefits, offers, and applications related to the location and facilitated by the check in. Further, the user may be pre-checked in into a next location when the user is at a current location.

Abstract: A user device is configured to allow a user to select any one of a plurality of accounts associated with the user to employ in a financial transaction. In one embodiment, the user device includes a biometric sensor configured to receive a biometric input provided by the user, a user interface configured to receive a user input identifying information concerning an account selected by the user from the plurality of accounts. In a further embodiment, the user device a processor coupled to the biometric sensor to receive information concerning the biometric input and to the user interface. According to one embodiment, the processor is configured to generate a non-predictable value and to generate encrypted authentication information from the non-predictable value and any of the account identifying information, information concerning the biometric input, and secret information.

Establishing, by the PCSC, a connection to the second CID. Establishing, by the second CID, a secure session with the first CID by using a session key. And sending, by the second CID, to the first CID, while using the CID type protocol, a secure CID channel establishment success that allows sending or receiving APDU(s) via the established secure channel over the wireless protocol. The second CID renders apparent to the first CID the chip as being connected.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system includes a medical device configured to provide a function to a user, communicate via a wireless communication channel with one or more other devices, and send a signal to shift a medical device application from a locked state to an unlocked state. The system also includes a computing device having wireless communication channels and a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic is configured to cause the computing device to communicate with the medical device, execute the medical device application, and shift from the locked state to the unlocked state in response to receiving the signal from the medical device. Core functionality of the medical device application is disabled when the medical device application is in the locked state, and some functionality applicable to the medical device is enabled when the medical device application is in the unlocked state.

Other various embodiments are possible.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for giving access to restricted content on a first device from a second device through a wireless network. In one embodiment, the first device transmits an authorization request signal to the second device or to a server in the wireless network. The second device, having received the authorization request, prompts an authorized user to give authorization to the first device by inputting an authentication key such as a password or gesture on the second device. Upon verification of the authentication key, an authorization signal may be wirelessly transmitted to the first device, permitting access to the restricted content or functions on the first device. In some embodiments, the second device may be alerted to an authorization request and may select a request for authorization from a selectable queue of requests.
