    Abstract: Provided is a sewing machine in which a stitching needle and a holding frame holding an article to be sewn are positioned relative to each other based on sewing pattern data defining a plurality of needle drop positions, and sewing is performed in accordance with a sewing pattern. The sewing machine includes: an imager for capturing an image of the holding frame; a position detector for detecting, from the image captured by the imager, the position of an indicator indicating a reference position marked in an object to be imaged; and a corrector which, based on a deviation of a detected position of the indicator detected by the position detector with respect to a regular position defined in advance for the indicator, corrects a plurality of needle drop positions defined in the sewing pattern data.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for the application of a functional thread to secure roving or other fibers to a substrate, thereby forming a precursor to a resultant composite component structure having targeted, enhanced structural reinforcement. The functional thread may be comprised of one or more fibrous filaments or have a monofilament structure. The invention encompasses the sewing of this functional thread at varying stitch densities as function of component stress analysis, the mechanical stresses that the component will be subject to when exposed to the forces and loads associated with its intended use, and at least one physical or mechanical property of a functional thread. This variable stitch density serves to provide targeted, localized mechanical enhancement and reinforcement to the resultant composite structure.

    Abstract: A sewing machine includes a sewing machine motor serving as a drive source for driving the vertical movement of a needle bar, a control part for controlling the sewing machine motor such that a sewing pitch coincides with a set value, and imaging part for imaging a seam formed in a workpiece at a needle drop position. The control part obtains the length of the most recent seam from an image of the most recent seam imaged by the imaging part and also compares the length of the most recent seam with the set value of the sewing pitch to thereby correct the number of rotations of the sewing machine motor.

    Abstract: Presented are a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for stitching. The method includes sensing, by a first sensor, a movement of a work piece relative to a sewing head. The method further includes sensing, by a second sensor, a movement of the work piece relative to the sewing head. The method includes determining, by a processor, a translational and rotational movement of the work piece relative to the sewing head based on the sensed movement of the first sensor and the second sensor. The method also includes altering, by the processor, a speed of a reciprocating needle in response to the determined translational and rotational movement.

    Abstract: A sewing machine acquires embroidery data of an embroidery pattern including a first pattern to be sewn when a holding position of an embroidery frame is a first position and a second pattern to be sewn subsequent to the first pattern when the holding position is a second position. The sewing machine identifies an image capture area based on the embroidery data, and acquires first image data representing the image capture area and extracts a first feature point. And then, the sewing machine acquires second image data and extracts a second feature point. The sewing machine sets, based on the first feature point and the second image data, a layout of the second pattern with respect to the first pattern when the holding position is the second position and corrects the embroidery data. The sewing machine sews the second pattern on the sewing object based on the corrected embroidery data.

The control device controls the sewing machine motor such that a sewing pitch is set to be a predetermined value. The wearable sensor is attached on a body of an operator of the sewing machine to detect a moving amount of an attached portion of the wearable sensor. The control device controls the sewing machine motor based on the moving amount of the attached portion detected by the wearable sensor such that the sewing pitch is set to be the predetermined value.
