    摘要: Finely divided, water-soluble polymers are prepared by polymerization of water-soluble, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in not less than 20% strength by weight aqueous solution in the presence of a polymerization initiator in a kneader by a process in which from 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the total monomers, of a surfactant are used in the polymerization, the polymerization initially being carried out to a conversion of the monomers of not less than 60% in the absence of the surfactant or in the presence of not more than 50% of the amount of surfactant, and the remaining amount of surfactant then being added to the reaction mixture and the polymerization completed. The addition of surfactant causes the polymer gel to disintegrate with formation of fine particles.

    摘要: Crosslinked bead polymers having an average particle diameter in the range of from 0.5-10 .mu.m and a narrow particle size distribution can be prepared by polymerization of vinyl monomers and silane monomer units which contain a hydrolysable group, the polymerization being carried out in a non-aqueous, polar medium using a free-radical former as the initiator in the presence of a polymer which is soluble in this medium and acts as a dispersant, and furthermore in the presence of a low molecular weight surfactant, and the resulting polymer is then crosslinked by the action of an aqueous acid or base.

    摘要: A cross-linked polymer-supported 4-(N-benzyl-N-methylamino) pyridine material and process for its preparation in high yield and having effective physical and catalytic properties. The polymer-supported catalyst is characterizd by the suspension copolymerization of an organic phase containing the corresponding vinyl-substituted pyridine monomer, a styrene monomer, and a suitable cross-linking agent and free radical-generating catalyst in the presence of an aqueous phase containing a cellulose ether derivative as the stabilizing agent. The catalyst is further characterized by its yield in excess of 90% by weight and by its predominant and generally spherical and smooth bead form and substantially uniform size that is efficiently hard and durable and possesses sufficient catalytic activity for effective use in acylation, alkylation or other related reactions.

    摘要: The present invention relates to the preparation of a dispersion wherein a copolymer comprising an acrylic monomer containing a dialkylbenzylammonium group is dispersed in an aqueous solution of a salt as fine particle. Two cationic polymers are used in the polymerization of the above monomer in the aqueous solution of a salt. One of the cationic polymers is a (co)polymer comprising an acrylic monomer containing a trialkylammonium group which is soluble both in the aqueous solution of a salt and in water, while the other thereof is a copolymer comprising an acrylic monomer containing a dialkylbenzylammonium group which is soluble in water, but insoluble in the aqueous solution of a salt. The above aqueous solution of a salt is an aqueous solution of a polyvalent anion salt such as sulfate or phosphate. A dispersion of a water-soluble cationic polymer can be prepared by dissolving the above monomer in the aqueous solution and carrying out the polymerization in the presence of the above two polymers.

    摘要: This invention relates to a water-absorbent resin of a new, novel type obtained from polymerization of water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a process for producing this resin.The water-absorbent resin in this invention has average particle diameter in a specially defined range and a narrow range of particle distribution, being superior in water-absorption capacity, and also, being superior in handling properties in a point of that, when being mixed with liquid, formation of a fish-eye is absent. The water-absorbent resin shows an angle-lacking, non-sphere shape and, in a case of shape like this, is superior in handling properties in a point that being hard in falling off from an basis material.Although the production process is performed to get a water-absorbent resin by carrying out polymerization in a reverse-phase suspension polymerization method, since the aqueous monomer solution is chosen from a specially defined viscosity range and dispersed and suspended by using a specially defined dispersing agent, a water-absorbent resin is easily obtainable wherein, not only the average particle diameter is controlled by adjusting the viscosity of an aqueous monomer solution, but also the particle diameter distribution is narrow. The water-absorbent resin obtained shows that a water-soluble component is small, so that it is very good for sanitary reasons. In this method, it is possible to vary the particle shape by changing up and down the viscosity of an aqueous monomer solution in an above-described specially defined range.The water-absorbent resin in this invention, because of having the above-described properties, is preferably used for sanitary materials and the like.

    摘要: A process for producing monodisperse vinyl polymer fine particles is disclosed, which comprises polymerizing at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl aromatic compounds, acrylic esters, and methacrylic esters as dissolved in an organic solvent or a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent, which is capable of dissolving said monomer or monomers but incapable of dissolving a produced polymer, wherein said polymerizing is carried out in the presence of partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of from 5 to 75 mol % and a number average degree of polymerization of from 100 to 3,000 as a dispersion stabilizer and in the presence of a polymerization initiator. Monodisperse polymer particles having a particle size of the order of micron with a narrow size distribution can be obtained through the one-step polymerization.
