Abstract:
A method and system for error correcting C1/PI words using error locations detected by EFM/EFMnull decoder are provided. The method for channel decoding and error correcting includes: (a) setting up a channel code; (b) producing demodulated data including information data symbols and erasure flags by modulating channel data symbols, using the channel code; and (c) performing an error-erasure correction on the information data symbols of the demodulated data, using error locations indicated by the erasure flags. The system for channel decoding and error correcting includes a channel decoder with a channel code for producing the demodulated data having the information data symbols and the erasure flags by demodulating the channel data symbols, a memory for storing the demodulated data, and a decoding unit for performing an error-erasure correction on the information data symbols, using the error locations indicated by the erasure flags having a predetermined value.
Abstract:
A signal which is to be used in high-speed playback is recorded in a predetermined region of a track. An error correcting check code region for recording an error correcting check code is formed at a position adjacent to the predetermined region. In accordance with the usage, an error correcting check code for high-speed playback, an error correcting check code for normal playback, or predetermined fixed data is recorded in the error correcting check code region. In a digital VTR which records and plays back data at plural kinds of data rates, trick playback data are recorded so that a head scans a subcode area or a VAUX area in high-speed playback at a predetermined tape running speed in each record mode. An area for recording an error correcting check code is used as an area for, in addition to an error correcting check code for normal playback, recording an error correcting check code for trick playback, normal playback data, or trick playback data.
Abstract:
A disk drive apparatus reads information with high accuracy from an information read/write medium. Information recorded on the information read/write medium is optically read with a pickup, and in accordance with the read signal Sin, an RF signal generated by an RF signal generation circuit is supplied to a frequency characteristic compensation circuit to generate an RF signal having a compensated frequency characteristic. Here, the frequency characteristic compensation circuit 10 is an equalizer comprising a differential amplifier, fixed resistors, variable resistors, and variable capacitance element. Values of the variable resistors and the variable capacitance element are adjusted to variably adjust the frequency characteristic of the frequency characteristic compensation circuit.
Abstract:
A method for recording an AV file using an information recording disk in which data is recorded/reproduced by sectors. The recording method includes the steps of: determining whether or not input data is AV data; detecting a defective sector existing in an assigned data recording area; when the input data is AV data while a defective sector is detected in the data recording area, allocating a defective extent including the defective sector; recording AV data in continuous sectors while skipping the defective extent; and allocating an area of continuous sectors where only the AV data is recorded as one AV extent.
Abstract:
A data reproduction apparatus and a data storage medium for synchronously reproducing multiplexed data with video, audio, and superimposed dialogue data compressed at a variable rate and performing various functions. Data are reproduced from the data storage medium using sector numbers, and data for negative sector numbers carried by some sectors are also reproduced. Multiplexing information indicating whether or not image, voice, and superimposed dialogue data is each multiplexed and information for the positions of access points used for data search and random access are stored in the positions represented by these negative sector numbers and reproduced so as to enable multiplexed data with video, audio, and superimposed dialogue data compressed at a variable rate to be synchronously reproduced and various functions to be executed.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a data recording method for an optical disc driver comprising the steps of receiving a data recording command, encoding data to be recorded in a corresponding user region block, storing the encoded data in the unit of an error correction code (ECC) block in a buffer, and recording the data of the ECC blocks if the number of the ECC blocks stored in the buffer is larger than the predetermined number of the ECC blocks. In encoding the data to be recorded, if the data to be recorded is the data in the unit of a sector, the data of the ECC block of the user region corresponding to the sector is reproduced, the data to be newly recorded is inserted into the data of the reproduced ECC block, and the processed ECC block is encoded. If the data to be recorded is the data in the unit of an ECC block, the ECC block data of the user region is not reproduced, but the ECC block to be recorded is encoded.
Abstract:
A data recording/reproducing apparatus applicable to, for example, an editing system having a plurality of hard disk units arranged to be in parallel operated to record/reproduce a video signal to be capable of recovering abnormal data without any interruption with the operations for recording/reproducing continuous data. The operations of a plurality of data recording/reproducing blocks are managed in time by a time slot to use a period of a blank time slot if an abnormal condition appears in one recording/reproducing block to recover abnormal data with data recorded on another recording/reproducing block.
Abstract:
An apparatus for writing on and reading an overwritable optical disk comprises an identifier detector that identifies a recording condition in the sector to be overwritten, and a delay time controller circuit that sets a variation range of the start point for writing according to the recording condition. The record timing of the modulated data signal is changed at random within the set variation range when overwriting the sector of the optical disk.
